Hey, got a million bucks to spare? Ya like movies? Then have I got the deal for you:

    19,036 Movies! World's Largest Collection
    4K/Blu-ray/DVD/3D/Criterion/OOP/Rare

I think the guy is delusional thinking he can get a million bucks for 19,000 DVDs and Blu-rays. I think at best, it's probably worth $20K ($10 per title), but hey, this would be a great way to get an instant collection that's most likely bigger than anybody's on this forum. But you also need enough space to house it.

  2. I wonder if it includes the complete DVD seasons of the show Hoarders.

There are likely some collectibles, but gotta list each in a separate auction. I have a hard time believing someone will pay tens of thousands for the whole thing.

He said: “You’ve got to stay ahead of the pack. These might have sentimental value for me, but there’s no point storing them in the garage when they could be netting me close to four figures. "

Sorry buddy, I think those paws you hear in the distance are the pack...

Saying they are worth only about a buck is extremely short sighted. Most will be about 3 bucks...but there are obviously going to be rare titles which can easily get several hundred.

    I don't see a million but 20K? Just a tad off.

    Thanks for the clarification.

  11. But if someone wanted just the rare titles, they'd go get those rare titles on eBay, Amazon, etc. No one in their right mind would pay this kind of money to get a few rare discs and thousands of others they don't want/need.

And his collection includes nearly 2,500 VHS titles. I hope there's a landfill ready for these.

It certainly isn't the shelving that makes the collection worth a million dollars.

In fact, at any minute, those shelves could reduce the value of the collection in half if not more.

Used stores can't give DVD's away....need to filter those out except for rare titles that haven't seen an HD release like The Abyss. He would very hard pressed to get an average of $10 per disc, forget $52 that's crazy talk right there.

I hauled about 50 Criterion DVD titles that could be upgraded to Blu-Ray to Half-Price Books and got $100. Over the next year I watched the little Criterion section they filled up gradually empty at $20 a title, likely with heavy couponing.

Oh trust me I too think that collection is overkill and not worth that price.

Anyone that collects all their life and sells in bulk is an idiot....unless they just don't care.

Buck a title if lucky. Best to eBay choice films like that fancy X Men box bottom shelve.

Maybe $5 per title, which would be $100K, tops. No way is it worth a million. (This is what I get for trying to be funny at 6:42AM, after a 19-hour shift finishing a bad movie.)

I think one would be better off buying a boat anchor. :p

Even the most dedicated movie aficionado would only want/need a small percentage of these discs to fill out their own collection. The rest of the discs would be nightmare to haul, store, and re-sell (unless one is already in the business of selling used DVDs). Plus, the selling cost leaves no money to be made here (and a lot to potentially be lost).

For a fraction of the price, you could build your own top-notch collection of movies, only buying good titles that you'd actually watch... instead of being saddled with a collection that matches someone else's taste.
