...and we always complain about what makes it to the final tracklist. I got to thinking that it'd be fun for the big fans to try and do the impossible: vote on which songs should make it to the ultimate two-disc compilation. One that would be fun for hardcore fans to play in the car, and one that would be an insta-buy for those just looking to get their fix of hits. There's a bunch of songs here, and you can vote on what you think should be included. Pretty self-explanatory. I'm excited to see what we come up with together! Vote at https://eSurv.org?u=whocomp. Set to end on 9/30/16.

I'll take a copy of whatever they throw at me, but the only compilation I'm really looking forward to is a complete Singles A's & B's.

Yeah, I think at this point the only logical option is a complete chronological A and B side set including any mix variations/different versions. Anything else would be pointless and we all probably own about 10 compilations.

    Will vote anyway!

Exactly. It's so bizarre that all those single-only songs like Relay, Waspman, Postcard, Join Together etc. are only available (if at all - I don't think Waspman has been out on CD?) scattered all over releases like Odds & Sods, the 30 Years boxset etc.

    Rarities, at least.

Had a look at Discogs - Rarities was not available on CD. The "Who's Missing" and "Two's Missing" compilations were released on CD though, and they did include Waspman. Still, those were released in 1987 - almost 30 years ago. Apparently those discs were re-issued in Japan in 2011 though - with extra bonustracks.

I guess it must be some mistake - they were released in late 80s (1988?) by Polydor.

Got to the Gs and had only heard about 10 songs at that point. I'm not qualified for this!

It was hyperbole, but it can sure feel like millions when you're trying to collect everything!

The Singles, MBB&B and the box set and you're covered in this aspect.

Rarities, Who's Missing, Two's Missing and Magic Bus are nice odds and ends comps aside the regular discography.

Going through it, I realized that my real idea of a two disk best of the Who collection is probably Quadrophenia. :)

I voted strongly agree for mostly the 'hits' and a quite a lot of Entwistle songs - he wrote so many great ones that they're often too easy to overlook. Oh, and a load of album tracks too...

Not many strongly disagrees at all - less than 5, I think and one of them was the LAL version of My Generation (it would take up too much valuable space!)

An amazing body of work and I can't wait to see the outcome. :righton:

Did the survey, just for the heck of it.
I went by their singles discography and added what I think are important album tracks or stray songs that can't be missed.

    Strongly Agree:

    I'm The Face
    Leaving Here
    I Can't Explain
    Anyway, Anyhow, Anywhere
    My Generation
    Substitute
    The Kids Are Alright
    I'm A Boy
    Happy Jack
    Boris The Spider
    Pictures Of Lily
    I Can See For Miles
    Dogs
    Magic Bus
    Pinball Wizard
    The Seeker
    Summertime Blues (Live)
    Won't Get Fooled Again
    Baba O'Reilly
    Bargain
    Behind Blue Eyes
    Let's See Action
    Join Together
    The Relay
    The Real Me
    5:15
    Love, Reign O'er Me
    Long Live Rock
    Who Are You
    You Better You Bet
    Eminence Front

    Agree:

    A Legal Matter
    La-La-La-Lies
    The Last Time
Mary-Anne With The Shaky Hands (Alternate)
    Call Me Lightning
    I'm Free
    Pure And Easy
    Postcard
    Squeeze Box
    Slip Kid
    Trick Of The Light
    Don't Let Go The Coat

So do I. It's a Japanese issue. It's frustrating that Dogs Part 2 isn't on it. As far as I'm aware the only B Side l don't have on CD, though there are plenty of original single mixes I either don't have or have never been released.
