    Jacintha: 'Lush Life" SACD
    Groove Note: GRV1011-3

I just received this excellent sounding disc today and find it a bit difficult to describe my initial impressions of it. The first thing that comes to mind is perplexing which relates to Jacintha's vocal style but that is quickly followed by the term relaxing and I mean that in a fully complementary sense. Aside from the excellent sound quality and instrumental backing the strength of this album is the superb selection some of the greatest "standard" standards as listed below from AMG:

    1. The Boulevard of Broken Dreams (Dubin/Warren) - 4:55
    2. Black Coffee (Burke/Burke/Webster) - 6:39
    3. Summertime (Gershwin/Gershwin/Gershwin/Heyward) - 6:13
    4. Lush Life (Strayhorn) - 6:19
    5. Manha de Carneval (Bonfa/Creatore/DeMorales/DeMoraes/Peretti/Weiss) - 6:10
    6. The Shadow of Your Smile (Mandel/Webster) - 5:12
    7. When We Were Young (Bloch/Mercer/Vannier) - 8:23
    8. September Song (Anderson/Weil/Weill) - 5:09
    9. Harlem Nocturne (Hagen) - 6:20
    10. Smile (Chaplin/Parsons/Phillips) - 2:18

If this type of music is your "cup of tea" Jacintha's 'Lush Life' is a great way of ending your evening listening session on a relaxing "laid back" note.
