I ordered BOTR this morning. My dream picks for One Step are Sticky Fingers, Hejira, Art Pepper Living Legend
The recent Hejira is excellent, well worth recommending, but I agree, that would be a stunning one step!
I wonder how the UltraDisc BOTW will compare to the Classic Records 4xLP 45rpm version of BOTW? I played the Classic last night and it sounds pretty sweet.
I picked up a copy, and I noticed that Rhino has a few other albums of hers on vinyl (Ladies of the Canyon, Blue, Court & Spark). Are they in the same ballpark as far as mastering quality is concerned? Were they done at the same time and with the same provenance essentially?
I can vouch for Blue only, as I haven’t heard the others yet. IIRC, Blue is from Gray/Hoffman and it’s highly regarded, though released several years earlier.
As another poster said, “Blue” is top notch. LOTC is not as good, IMO. Michael Fremer creamed over it though. Not saying it’s not good, just doesn’t impress me as much as the “Hejira”and “Blue” reissues.
For those who own/have heard the Classic Records 45rpm of BOTW, what are your feelings about its pros and cons? How do you rate it vs other Classic titles? Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Sam
This website shows BOTW limited to 3000 copies. Anyone heard otherwise? http://snvinyl.co.uk/epages/eshop943300.mobile/?ObjectPath=/Shops/eshop943300/Products/"UD1S 2-004"&ClassicView=1
Simon and Garfunkel - Bridge Over Troubled Water (Lmt Ed UltraDisc One-Step 45rpm Vinyl 2LP Box Set) LMFUD1S004 This is from the Music Direct website on my order page. No idea about pressing numbers, though.
I was not questioning the release itself, only the pressing numbers. SN Vinyl sold also the Santana 1 step. When he didn’t get the no of records he had ordered to serve all customers he cancelled the orders and raised the price to 400 gbp. If you order, expect to wait 6 months or take legal action to get your money back. Beware!
