Interesting! The original master tapes, really or not? Wonder if its better than the new MFSL lp and the SACD? Like to see, The Beatles on this format, and a bunch others! Wonder if they be taking the place of the SACD's or the MFSL lps? Should be interesting!

Three times in that description it says it
"literally and figuratively brings you closer to the music". How, exactly, does it literally bring you closer to the music? What does that even mean?

I'm sure it will sound incredible, but meaningless hyperbole like that makes me doubt everything else it says.

Test pressings have been in the works for 2 years at least.

A couple friends of mine heard one at the last Axpona audio show. They liked what they heard.

Who knows when we'll see this as "now shipping?"

Literally closer because two steps are removed during the pressing process. Literally generationally closer to the master tape. It's a fair description.

I usually buy from Elusive Disc so I'll wait for their listing to pre-order.
Would be interesting to know which other titles they have in mind for future releases.

  10. I'll let others enjoy these releases as there is no way in hell I'm paying that much. I'm drawing a line in the sand...enough already.

    I hear 'ya.

I'll just just stick with the Abraxas Mo-Fi SACD. That one's killer enough for me.

IMHO it's disingenuous to call it "1-step". When I read that I thought they were selling the lacquers like Classic Records used to do. Which is truly "1 step".

Putting my feelings for the name aside, I think it's a brilliant move if what they are saying can be achieved fidelity wise. They should be able to press a good number of records (500-1000?) off the convert.

Any takers as to whether we'll see yet another version of Blonde On Blonde or Kind Of Blue?

Honestly, I've got no interest in another Kind Of Blue, but I wouldn't mind an "ultimate" Aja improving on the already excellent Cisco LP.

    99 bucks, eh?
You think it would be cheaper, now that you're eliminating two entire plating steps!

    Forget that malarkey.

There are very few albums I would spend that much money on...Only my absolute favourites.

Bring it on, I'll give it a try. But just like Zach above, for the price it had better be an album I really love.

I'm not sure Abraxis is THAT album for me to spend this much on but I may be open to trying one of these at some point. I thought the new deluxe releases of XTC's Skylarking and English Settlement were ridiculously priced but now that I have them I have no regrets. It will be interesting to see were this goes.

Rep at MD told me it will definitely be released before the end of the year.
I ordered with the 20 percent off before they cut it off next month.

20 percent off code did not work for me on this title. Says in description "not eligible for further discounts"
