Interesting to compare with the Uncut lists (see below for links). Is this one better or worse in your opinion? McCartney fans will be relieved to see what made #27...

Prince is here listed as a new album. Uncut have it as an archive release.

Anna Calvi's album is good but also a little disappointing after the 5 year wait.

Nice. Like it more than Uncut. Again nice to see the Gwenno album mentioned.

I went with the Goon Sax album just because I love it but I'm pleasantly surprised that it made the list.

Looking forward to reading the grousing McCartney fans grumbling that it's not high enough.

Glad to at least see some representation for rock music, even if these aren't the releases I personally would have picked. I can't vote yet. I'm still catching up on many new releases of the year as I decide on my own favorites of the year.

That McCartney album is terrible. Reading all the gushing comments about that here is like entering an alternate universe.

It's not in my Top 25, probably a bit higher up than this list as well.

Not like I didn't give it a chance - listened to it a number of times actually. Same feeling when I read some of the forum posts here where I keep thinking that perhaps I got the alternative "old man vocals" version. Or maybe I just don't have them golden ears, bucko.

Malkmus. And it's not close for me.

It's not even the vocals that bother me, honestly. They're just not good songs.

A lot of people think Mojo is for old farts, but if you compare their list to what most people here listen to, it's radically progressive.

Also a very genuine contender for my Gig of the Year too. The final date of their European tour (in a 2,100 seat theatre in Dublin) was incredible.

Sad but true if some of the comments on these polls are anything to go by.

  13. "Egypt Station" by Paul McCartney got my vote...

...close call with the Yo La Tengo, but I already voted for that one in Uncut's Top 25 poll (where it was #5)

McCartney ranks amazingly low in Album of the Year’s aggregated score: Paul McCartney - Egypt Station

    It’s at no. 494 overall for 2018:
    The Best Albums of 2018

The critical consensus of these sources seems to be that it’s a good-ish late-period McCartney album but not a particularly strong album in itself.

The Sunday Times newspaper published their top 40 today. Number one is The Good, the Bad and the Queen.

    McCartney is not included.
