Ah, new arrivals. A tad pricey at $24.99 through $39.99, though :sigh:

I think that possibly the well-heeled Japanese audiophile who buys XRCDs has a valve amp, maybe single-ended, coupled to efficient speakers in a small room. I would not say that their systems roll off the treble, although super tweeters are more popular there than other places in the world. I have a feeling that a very smooth treble response in a small room can stand a little goosing and not appear problematic.

Throw that same source material on a solid state amp running high power into a somewhat inefficient speaker in a large room, and things don't come off so well.

Until SACD arrived, I thought XRCD was the best digital disc I had heard.

    Regards,
    Geoff

The exact one is actually "What's Love Got To Do With It" Rock The First: Vol. 5 cat #D233045-2. Sorry for any earlier confusion.

I was able to purchase both of the Mancini discs for less than $20 each on half.com.
