Most books and articles I read pretty much say the same thing, NO recordings exist of the famous Monk-Coltrane quartet at the Five Spot. I'm talking about the one with Wilbur Ware on bass and Shadow Wilson on drums. The only recordings that exist are supposedly the three studio cuts on "Thelonious Monk with John Coltrane." The later "Discovery!" CD is not the same quartet (I believe it's the Johnny Griffin quartet, with Coltrane filling in for Griffin).

Just to be absolutely sure, I was wondering if anyone here knows of any "unofficial" recordings. Did anyone back then ever take it upon themselves to tape these guys?
