Ringo Starr - err... Sir Richard Starkey
Congratulations to Sir Ringo! who was knighted yesterday at Buckingham Palace.
The Queens list was let out of the bag last Christmas Eve 2017, the actual knighthood took place yesterday .. Ringo was entered in as "Sir Richard Starkey". Ringo along with the other Beatles received the MBE honour some 53 years ago in 1965. Ringo said "this actually means a lot", and was a little shaky without his mates like last time. He stated he was proud to receive the knighthood for his music, and charity work.

One of the first “VIP” packages. It was called the “LIPA Ticket” - a $1000 tax deductible donation to the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts. For that you received a nice bag of goods, a full vegetarian sit down dinner, and what was then an unheard of opportunity to attend a sound check. I was in my early 30’s, with a stay at home wife and a toddler - not sure what I was thinking. But I got to meet Mary McCartney, Macca Superfan Jorie Gracen, and one of the original Beatles collectors Garett Pawlovski. In retrospect, I really enjoyed it, and it was for a good cause.

Super! :edthumbs: .. I love that odd LP set. Was in San Francisco on vacation in the summer
of 92, and my friend took me to Let It Be Records, the owner I knew from early Beatlefests in 1978/79. I thought the art work was worth the price itself... some really strange LP cover changes made (?) Would enjoy reading some information on what the deal was on all that.
Thanks for visiting again One Step

I can go one better than that... :) I was surprised to find this video, very soon after getting the double LP set because I wan't specifically looking for it in the first place... just general stuff on Beatles imports.

I got mine from a fellow that I've known for years... he has a high-street store that deals in clearing houses after people have moved for whatever reason (no doubt, often because people have sadly passed on) and had the thing under the counter, ready to put on the shelves. I was intrigued!

Thought it would sound atrocious - to my ears, it's very acceptable - so that was a bonus with it being in nice condition too. I was about 95% sure it was a boot as soon as I saw it and didn't notice the changes to the Pepper part of the sleeve at first but the Revolver one had me baffled as to what was going on with it from the start. :D

Yep, he has been around a looong time .. used to get some amazing stuff.
He was one of the guys from the mid 1970's I remember well. That little store
was ridiculous, like a bomb went off... that was 25 years ago easy. Hadn't seen him for 12 years before that.

Many thanks to my friend @OneStepBeyond for finding, and posting this interesting and informative video clip on The Beatles "SPLHCB / Revolver" double Russian gatefold LP.
There are a number of other Russian LP's... I just personally find the Pepper & Revolver
set (arguably two of The Beatles best) a great item.

Doing some additional deeper searching I found this eBay post re:
The Beatles Russian SPLHCB / Revolver LP Set...

A few interesting facts about the changing of characters on the Pepper cover...
None other than the record maker, and his assistant inserted themselves on to the cover!
The other bit of info was that there were apparently only 500 copies printed.. making it
a very low production. The cover art work changes had a lot to do with protection from
    any copyright problems.

    Have a look...

My pleasure. :) Whatever way anyone looks at it, they are two 'landmark' albums and have been favourites of mine, alternating with just about all the other UK album releases at one time or other! :D I like the look of some of the others (especially the Led Zeppelin) just because of the story behind these and how the covers got to be changed to what they are. But the Pepper/Revolver one is what I'd have gone for, without hesitation, were I given the choice.

I did see this one as well... plus there is another video that mentions the record. From memory, I'm not so sure the uploader knew what he had (ie. a 'boot') but was pleased to have it anyway, being an avid collector himself and he said the quality of the pressing and sound are both fine.

King Crimson - "Larks' Tongues In Aspic" at 45

Happy belated 45th birthday, and celebrations to the mighty King Crimson!
Yesterday marked the release of an album that opened the door to new possibilities,
set sail in unchartered territory... and found a vast landscape that has touched countless
listeners and musicians since 1973. The LP was a life changing experience for me.
