Not a guitar player, but I love to listen to Andres Segovia. I'm kind of surprised he hasn't been mentioned yet, unless I've missed it.

The request was for The Most Beautifully Recorded Acoustic Guitars, not the Most Beautifully Played acoustic guitars. Andres' best playing is on his early—1927-1939—recordings. And the later stereo and mono recordings for Decca USA are not particularly well recorded. Frankly, the playing technique on the later recordings is not as good as on the earlier performances either and it is easy to find beautifully performed and recorded albums by Segovia's students, such as Christopher Parkening.

Too many to mention. But I will mention Tony Rice. Bluegrassers are good sources for great acoustic sounds. But Tony Rice man...

Prefab Spout - The rerecorded acoustic Steve McQueen tracks that came with the deluxe version of the album are both wonderfully played and recorded.. In some ways I find them even better than the original band versions..

The first three Cat Stevens albums on Island sound great. I Wish, I Wish, and Katmandu from `Mona Bone Jakon' have terrific sounding guitars.

Argenta's 1957 recording (on the Spanish Columbia/EMI label "Alahambra" ) of Rodrigo's "Concierto de Aranjuez" with Yepes as the soloist. I have a box set put out by "Alto" about 15 years ago that has this record. It was also released in 1959 on Decca and London. Strangely enough, it doesn't seem to be in print anymore.

I agree with the comment about Ralph Towner albums - 12 string acoustics must be as hard to record as they are to play! The first album I heard by Ralph was SOLSTICE and I strongly recommend that one.

I bought the album this piece is from, Five Years Later, from HDTracks because ECM recently made a hi rez version available. The sonics are remarkable. (Not to mention the performances.)

The song "Laughing", from David Crosby's 'If I Could Only Remember My Name", has some beautifully recorded acoustic guitars.
