Perhaps if your family had some accomplishment of note you would show some genuine pride too. He should be fond of that table. I would if I owned one. It's an amazing turntable and a high end "bargain" for it's actual performance.

You should go have a listen to one. Then you might understand. :agree:

There is beauty in simple lines as well, and it doesn't have to cost a fortune.

Agreed that the Clairtone is a wonderful piece of design. Not sure I ever saw one in the flesh, but do seem to remember some other high design with spherical speakers- in the 70's? Did Braun do any? They had some pretty high-end, high design gear back in the day. Unfortunately- and maybe my limitations- the only product of theirs I see these days is a cheap coffee grinder.

Anyone ever hear a pair of B&W Emphasis from the mid to late 90's? I always thought they looked really interesting but never had a chance to hear or even see a pair?

If you put them in the same room as the speakers shown in Marja & Henk's room (post #276 above), they would probably mate. I can't guarantee what the offspring would look like. It might attack Tokyo before being taken out by a secret weapon.....
