What acoustic guitar riff to begin a song is most recognizable, in your opinion? The kind of riff that establishes itself immediately as iconic for songs with prominent acoustic guitars in the mix.

You can nominate two: One that is chord-based (chunk chords, for example) and one that is finger-picked.

For example, I thought about "Pink Houses," "Sister Golden Hair" and "Night Moves" for the former, and "The Boxer" for the latter---BUT...

Gotta go with these two, both by the same artist/writer:

Chords: "My Sweet Lord" (G. Harrison)
Finger-Picked: "Here Comes the Sun" (G. Harrison again!)

    Your turn!

Chords - Carpet of the Sun - Renaissance (Michael Dunford)
EDIT: Finger Picked - Black Flame - Renaissance (Michael Dunford)

Lots of good ones. On The Frontier and I Think of You are both good too.

Zeppelin has sooo many of them. Since you mentioned Here Comes the Sun (my favorite), I'll throw in My Sweet Lord.

You said most recognizable so I'll go with something like Boston's Peace of Mind.

Neil Diamond had a bunch of them (chord-based riffs) back in his Bang days...or stuff he gave to the Monkees ("Little Bit Me, Little Bit You", for example).

  25. There are so many songs that are instantly recognizable by their intros. One that springs to mind for me is 'Give A Little Bit' by Supertramp.
