Running for seven series (totalling a mere 42 episodes) produced on-and-off from 1984 to 1994 staring Gary McDonald and Ruth Cracknell with Henri Szeps and Judy Morris.

Arthur looks after his mother who is slowly losing the plot, or so it seems as sometimes she is as sharp as a tac whilst other times she would forget her head if it wasn't screwed on. The trouble is, Arthur wants to live his life. All he needs is for his brother to just look after their mother occasionally.

So. A sitcom about dementia. How the hell can this be funny? Except it is one of the most hilarious shows ever produced. It was one of the most popular shows made in Australia at the time plus in re-runs. Several attempts have been made overseas to produce a local version, with varying degrees of success because it is not a topic to be handled lightly. Yet the original handles it perfectly.

I'm not sure if it has been screened in America but if it hasn't, I really recommend it. Here's the first episode.

I'm with you, such a simple show, no big tricks, and funny as hell.
