Motown mid 80s anthology releases

Hi

I recently got the temptations 2 disc anthology from 1986.
It sounds good but i notice it is in stereo and my understanding is that early motown is almost universally considered superior in mono, i could also get the marvin gaye and miracles sets locally but the thing is i already have the 2 disc gold compilations.
Now i figure the mid 80s anthologies will be more dynamic and won't be brickwalled but does the lack of mono mean they're not as superior as one would assume?
My intro to motown was the 1959-1971 hitsville box btw and love it.

opinions on replacing a gold series best of with the 80s era anthology releases of the specific artist would be appreciated.

 

You are better off skipping those and getting the better sounding 90's Anthologys:

As above the 90s Anthology series are generally the way to go - plenty of threads in the archives.
