I take it the idea is to suggest a picture you've really liked which you think other members may not have seen, not something deservedly obscure, but perhaps a bit lesser known. Here's one: "Tell No One." Fantastic thriller. And if you liked that, next up is "Point Blank" (not the Lee Marvin classic -- though that is essential -- but a French actioner from a couple years ago -- about 80 minutes and non-stop from the start).

And here's an offbeat picture I loved a couple years ago when I saw it at a genre-film fest: "Phase 7." Imagine a pandemic and quarantine which reveals to you that the weirdo who lives in the apartment next door to you is your best ally . . . Gruesome, unnerving, and hilarious.

If you want your home to feel like a 42nd street Grindhouse circa-1985, I highly recommend the throwback films House of the Devil and Black Dynamite!

Shakespeare in Love. I highly recommend this film: a charming story, great acting, and what I consider to be the best musical score I've ever heard in a film. Oh yes, the costumes are great as well.

Saw it at the freaking theatre! :agree: You don't get too many films with a Briard in the mix.

Tell No One was the best film of the decade. I walked into the near empty theater on a cold winter night and it blew me away.
    Since it is indeed October...
To go into the lesser seen: The Old Dark House, a nearly lost American classic.
The most underrated Universal classic: Son of Frankenstein, which for my money is the last truly great Uni horror and features arguably Lugosi's finest performance as the mad Ygor.
Most underrated Hammer: Revenge of Frankenstein. Others like Frankenstein Created Woman get the nod for being more about ideas, but this one is truly an idea picture in a horror movie shell. Directed by Terrence Fisher, one of the last Hammers to be shot by Jack Asher with sumptuous color, a direct sequel, and a genuinely surprising ending to boot. The Sony DVD is a stunner though it seems to be a bit on the cool side color-wise.

Another cool movie that I don't see talked about much is "Time Bandits". It has a little bit of everything thrown in (history, time travel, Monty Python, mythology, Sean Connery, Good vs Evil, little people, game shows, etc....)

And George Harrison was one of the producers! (I understand that he believed in the film so much, he mortgaged his house to help finance it.) Notice how I did that? :)
