He would have made a better Dick Hickcock than a Perry Smith

Top Secret. Obviously the part is already an Elvis parody, but I think he had a sense of humor about his image and could have pulled it off nicely.

I could see him in "Deliverance"- in the Burt Reynolds role, not as Hillbilly #2.

True Grit was an easy enough role. I think Elvis would have been fine in it but he wasn’t a good actor overall. Sinatra was probably the greatest crossover actor

Excellent choice. Sinatra was the better singer :)

"A Star Is Born". It was offered to him, and it might have saved his life.

I understand that Elvis was interested in the role of Tony in West Side Story and that Natalie Wood endorsed the idea. But the Colonel nixed it as it was too much of an ensemble piece and would have undercut Elvis's star billing.

I have given this some thought as WSS is one of my favorite films and I feel that Richard Beymer's performance as Tony is the weak link in the film. IMO, he was miscast. He is supposed to be this tough, but sensitive guy that other guys consider a leader and would follow into battle. He wasn't. But Elvis was. I think he would have improved what already a fantastic film. Imagine how it would have changed the course of his career. (But he would have had to do something about that accent).

That's a hard one for me to answer. The studios seemed to use the "cookie cutter" approach when doing Elvis movies because of who & what Elvis was. If Elvis were to do a movie role of a classic movie, it would have been altered to the "cookie cutter" level by the studios & ruined. My opinion.

I don't buy that. Elvis had a lot of studio clout because of his fame, but that onky goes so far. Producers will dictate and if they want something that they pay for no star....even Elvis is going to change that.
