    From the 1930-70s. Any country.

"12 Angry Men" is the one that comes to mind.

Chris DeVoe RIP Vickie Mapes Williams (aka Equipoise)

I just saw in the theater The Report, starring Adam Driver as a dedicated government employee who spent five years creating a 7000 page report about the CIA's torture "enhanced interrogation" program. He spent literally 5 years in a windowless lead-lined hyper-secure room. At one point he had a female assistant, who was equally dedicated but eventually left to take a job that wasn't in a lead-lined, windowless room. If they had a romantic relationship, it wasn't shown in the film.

The female lead was Annette Benning starring as Senator Dianne Feinstein, and I don't think anyone wants to see that, not even the senator's biggest fans.

Sergio Leone's Dollar trilogy comes to mind.

    The Third Generation (Fassbinder)
    Chinese Roulette (Fassbinder)
    Aguirre (Werner Herzog)
The Enigma Of Kaspar Hauser (Werner Herzog)
    Compañeros (Sergio Corbucci)
The Red Badge of Courage (John Huston)
Hands Over The City (Francesco Rosi)
    The Firemen's Ball (Milos Forman)
    The French Connection (William Friedkin)
    Across 110th Street (Barry Shear)

...lots more, those are off the top of my head.

I take it you’re not counting the scene where Scheider finds Hackman with his ankle handcuffed to the bed?

“That crazy kid. She locked me up with my own cuffs.”

I don’t recall there being a love relationship between Clooney and Bullock, or even that she had someone at home.

Wasn't there that widow that Steve McQueen took care of when he wasn't racing? Or were they just friends?

"Colour Me Kubrick: A True...ish Story" has an alternative fan theory on what it's about :D

1st boy in bar: left his calling card in 2001: A Space Odyssey. But none of us recognised it.

    2nd boy in bar: 2001?

1st boy in bar: Yes. HAL, the computer. Camp as a row of tents. Positively Danny Debonair with that voice. That's why he killed the astronaut, wanted to be alone with the other beefcake.

2nd boy in bar: Oh. What's he working on now... Kubrick?

1st boy in bar: He's doing a remake of that Julie Christie film, 'Darling.' She's a boy this time. They wouldn't let John Schlesinger get away with *that* in the 1960s.

2nd boy in bar: Sounds captivating.

1st boy in bar: It is dear. Very captivating. And I've got a rather juicy part in it. It'll be goodbye soaps for moi.

2nd boy in bar: Well... they do say in Hollywood, the only way to the top is through the bottom.

    And "Lawrence of Arabia" :)

Just friends. It was her husband that died in the crash with Michael Delaney, (McQueen's character), the year before. I don't even think he was so much taking care of her as watching out for her during the race itself, when it wasn't his stint at the wheel.

There is no love interest in Le Mans. Even though Delaney's main rival at Ferrari is married & we see his wife with him, it's an extremely minor part of the film.
