Did anybody see this? It just ended on the East Coast. I saw Annie Lennox, U2 and then Queen came out and did We Will Rock You/We Are The Champions with Anastacia. She did a good job w/ it. I thought see would Mariah carey all over it but she didn't. The concert looked huge and really cool. The audience was really into it.

The show is being repeated throughout today and tomorrow on MTV, MTV2, and VH1. It can also be seen in streaming video at Nelson Mandela's site:

I agree about the MTV editing and too many commericals - but hey, at least they ran some commercials for Trojan condoms!

As to the performances, some were better than others. Honestly I thought Beyonce really kicked it, and the Brian May /Andrea Corr duet was nice too. Seeing Peter Gabriel perform 'Biko' in South Africa for the first time, with a full African chorus no less, was very moving.

But the concert did succeed on imparting information, I had no idea that life expectancy in much of sub-Sahran Africa has plummeted from an average of 60 years to about 30 years just in the last decade because of the AIDS pandemic:(
