Hmmm, I never thought he would recommend these 4 titles...

Maybe they still got a large stock of these... ;-)

But those 4 were on top of the other 34 titles Manelus had ordered...

113 minus 34 titles = 79 titles you do not have...

@ first, every MM album is worth buying, they ALL sounds GREAT... but I just would never mention these 4 titels... but Ron did, so when I got time to listen with extra attention I sure will spin these 4 records again.

    Hmmm....

    Scott Wheeler says there's 118 45 titles....
Now you say there is 113 45 titles....
    I have 112 45 titles...
If there are additional 45 titles beyond the 112 on MM site and the 112 in my place someone please let me know
I hate to be left out if there were some MM 45 titles that only some folks got
Could you clarify your 113 count, Michel Jazz

A few months ago I just had 2 MM titles and I "discovered" the outstanding quality of MM releases.

    I suscribed to 33 series.

Then I read every single post in this thread. I build my list of 45rpm titles (users recommendation + my own tastes).

I asked and received good advice from you (Michel) regarding shipment costs.

I asked MM, and Ron added these 5 titles.

    1.- High stock?

2.- Sort of balance with the other ones?

3.- Among his favorites? (on top of the others in my list).

    4.- 1+2+3 ?

All in all I’m very happy with them. With them all.

Now I am a sort of Music Matters “fanatic” :agree:

Manelus, its terrific that you ordered 34 albums ! I'm sure when they arrives it will feels like you're a kid in a candy store...
If its possible could you sent or post me the list of your prefered 34 albums...
But I'm pretty sure that Ron's recommendations got nothing to do with stock or your preferred albums... It's his choice of the heart

    Oh I see...

Not to resurrect the ghost of Christmas past or anything...but seeing as to how you and I are people who like to follow things thru and see it to conclusion I went ahead and counted those 112 Music Matters 45rpms specifically looking at the dead wax for the initials. Per my count (and I counted twice) SH--Steve Hoffman's initials appear on the dead wax of 38 titles:

    1. the congregation

    2. Out to lunch

    3. Our Thing

    4. AfroCuban

    5. Getting’ Around

    6. Patterns in Jazz

    7. Undercurrent

    8. Matador

    9. Us Three

    10.The Opener

    11.Doin’ Allright

    12.Talking About

    13.Swing Swang Swingin

    14.Solid

    15.A Night In Tunisia

    16.The Cat Walk

    17.Smithville

    18.the Big Beat

    19.Lee Morgan vol.3

    20.Juju

    21.Here To Stay

    22.Sonny Rollins vol.1

    23.The Stylings of Silver

    24.Unity

    25.Cliffor Brown Memorial Album

    26.Candy

    27.The Magnificent Thad Jones

    28.Roll Call

    29.Open Sesame

    30.Evolution

    31.Speakin’ My Piece

    32.LD + 3

    33.Little Johnny C

    34.Bluesnik

    35.Sonny’s Crib

    36.Leapin’ and Lopin’

    37.Indestructible

    38.Byrd in Hand

So all in all our host was involved in the mastering of a third of the MM 45s, not 77 as you claimed! Would like to know if you counted different on this matter. Of course I could be 1 or 2 off count.

That is a very helpful list. Thanks for taking the time to actually check the dead wax of all those titles -- that's the only only way it can be done!

It was quite tedious but as you say it's the only way...

Please tell me you are not going to try to resurrect that argument that the MM LPs are pure, unaltered flat transfers of the master tapes again. :help:

Why are these in this order? It's not alphabetical...

    Not at all.
Think of my list as a public service announcement in an effort to correct public misinformation.
As you say that's a matter only those on the scene can settle.
The list concerns your assertions that Hoffman mastered 77 MM titles
    That is all.
You should do yourself a favor and look at those dead wax. Quite informative!
As the say, the devil is in the details.

Well, in fact it was 2 parcels. Boxes with 20 records, 45rpm + 33rpm. 20 records per box is the best value regarding shipping costs.
And yes! An inmense pleasure!!! I love vinyl, and these records are something special .
(Better than sex, but please don't tell anybody :shh:). :) :) :)

there is no implied or applied reason to the order of my list.
Just this: after counting those things twice, there was no way I was gonna go thru the extra tedious step of arranging the list in alphabetical or any other order.
If anyone has OCD to the extent that the out of order arrangement of the list bothers them then they are welcome to organize it by date or ...
