The Herbie Hancocks and the Wayne Shorters. Brilliant composers and players, both. Also Andrew Hill's Judgment! and Jackie McLean's One Step Beyond.

    Nice list.

To paraphrase Bum Phillips "Either I don't know how to listen to records or you don't know how to f@&k!"

Ron rarely recommends titles he doesn't feel are outstanding both musically and sonically. If he added those titles, it's most likely (and I'm speaking for myself here, not Ron - who can speak well enough all by his lonesome) because he felt they would compliment your order AND provide some of the better Music Matters sound. Ron is (justifiably) proud of his reissues. They're the very best. There's not one that isn't a must own - at least in my book.

Dexter Gordon's "Our Man In Paris" and Eric Dolphy "Out To Lunch" are already in my list.
I will add Thad Jones and Hancock to my next order. What I don't know is if I will be able to pay my house's mortage :)

As has been noted earlier in this thread, I believe, Jackie McLean's One Step Beyond is of a piece with his Destination . . . Out! and Grachan Moncur's Evolution. So if you like those, you should like One Step Beyond as well.

No, no. Look Out! was not done at Cohearent. Only the last six 45 rpm titles were cut at Cohearent. The 45 titles cut at Cohearent will have Universal logo on the spine. Look Out was released in March of 2012 with Adam's Apple ahead of the audio upgrades by KG.
Here are the six 45s done at Cohearent:

Jazz Messengers At Cafe Bohemia vol.1
Jazz Messengers At Cafe Bohemia vol.2
    Ike Qubec Easy Living
Sonny Clark Dial 'S' For Sonny
Horace Parlan Happy Frame of Mind
    Lee Morgan The Gigoloo

Had too much wine last night so I might be off by a title or so...

If the release dates list I have is correct, release dates are:

Donald Byrd - Royal Flush Sept. 2013
    Lee Morgan - The Gigolo
Dizzy Reece - Star Bright Oct. 10 2013
    Stanley Turrentine - Jubilee Shout!!!
Sonny Clark - Dial S For Sonny Nov. 10 2013
Horace Parlan - Happy Frame Of Mind
Jazz Messengers -At The Café Bohemia, Vol. 1 Dec. 15 2013
Jazz Messengers -At The Café Bohemia, Vol. 2

If it is correct only from Star Bright to At Café Bohemia would be done at Cohearent.

Herbie Hancock “Takin' Off” Apr. 2013
Hank Mobley Quintet “The Feelin’s Good”

Go and get you a copy of Mode For Joe quickly. It's an intoxicating brew. Then Check out Jazz Messengers At Cafe Bohemia vol.1 & 2. I never understood the fascination with mono records until I heard those two live sessions. Pound for pound you'll never realize how significant the upgrades at Cohearent are until you compare the Cafe Bohemia vol. 1 & 2 to all the other monos in the 45 rpm series. Miles ahead.

I see a lot of the avant garde on your list but I don't see Bobby Hutcherson's Happenings. It is a spooky motion picture done in musical notes. The song Bouquet is disquieting with it's stately graveyard atmosphere.

Definitely Star Bright and Jubilee Shout!

As a matter of fact I think Michel Jazz was speaking of Jubilee Shout! but unwittingly mentioned Look Out!

The 45s put out in Oct. Nov &Dec. 2013 were all done at Cohearent. You can hear the difference. the 2 vols. of Cafe Bohemia might be the best sounding records Music Matters ever put out and that's saying a lot for someone who's never fancied mono recordings

Addendum: Royal Flush is something special though. Did you know that it was Herbie Hancock's debut on Blue Note? Before he recorded Takin' Off.

I agree with you re Bobby Hutcherson's Happenings. That's a must buy.

I think you are confusing the cable upgrades at Cohearent with titles mastered at Cohearent. I think several of these titles were done at Cohearent, before the cable upgrades.

I thought I was done, but I couldn’t resist and yesterday I placed a new order of 15 45rpm titles to merge with my next 33 shipment.

Most of the suggestions of forum members are included.

    Mode For Joe is included.

At the Café Bohemia already are in my first list and I agree, first class sound “not to be missed” tag.

I’m not a seasoned jazz listener. I come from classical (80% of my records are classical), but I’m now appreciating jazz (with this quality). Maybe it is because of my “provenance” that I tend to more complex music and more “Avant Garde”.

I haven’t considered Bobby Hutcherson's Happenings so far because Vibes sound is not a favorite of mine, though I must admit Mr. Hutcherson vibes at “Out to Lunch” are something special, they somehow remind me celesta sound in Bartok’s compositions.
