(I'm pretty sure there is an existing thread but I searched extensively and could not find).

This is about rock or pop musicians acting - as opposed to actors who sing (sometimes very well) (e.g. broadway musical actors)

Roger Daltrey has done more than his fair share of acting. Tommy obviously. I barely remember McVicar having seen it when it came out (I think).
I just watched a TV version of A Comedy of Errors. He got Shakespeare thing going.

Kenny Rogers, Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Sheb Wooley, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Travis Tritt, Randy Travis, Cher, Elvis Presley

These three could kind of go either way, as I'm not sure if they were musicians who turned to acting to get into music, or vice-versa: Rick Springfield, John Schneider, David Cassidy

PS- I re-read the original post, and seen the OP was asking for pop or rock stars, so about half my list may not count, as they're primarily known as Country acts.

I always liked seeing Roger Daltrey on The Highlander.

I saw an episode of Star Trek: Deep Space 9 the other day with Iggy Pop. I was kind of disappointed with how professional he was.

Mick Jagger was terrific in Performance but he's been pretty awful in anything else I've seen him in like Ned Kelly

I can't remember the name of the movie, it was from the early nineties, and Young was in it----with blond hair! When I saw his name in the credits I had to rewind it (it was on a VHS tape, when I was living in Japan) to look again, and sure enough, it was ol' Shakey. If I weren't at work now I'd look it up.
