GaryW mentioned Joe Strummer in Straight to Hell, which also featured Elvis Costello, Courtney Love and I think some of the Pogues. the best thing I can say about their acting is they were all good musicians.

Strummer also was in Mystery Train, in which he played a drunken bank robber pretty effectively.

someone else mentioned Dwight Yoakam, but I thought I'd re-emphasize one of his roles. he was the no-good boyfriend in Sling Blade and played the part so well I absolutely hated him by the end of that movie. probably my favorite acting performance by a musician.

oh, and let us not forget -- let us NOT forget -- Flea in The Big Lebowski. he was a nihilist so his role pretty much amounted to nohsing, but that movie's so great I have to mention it every chance I get.

LL Cool J's been in a lot of movies, including Toys (ouch), Halloween H20, and S.W.A.T.

Queen Latifah was nominated for an Oscar for her work in Chicago.

Jello Biafra had a great quick scene as an FBI agent in Tapeheads, which also featured Sam Moore, Junior Walker, Doug E. Fresh, Michael Nesmith, and Fishbone!

And speaking of Flea, don't forget his role as Marty's boss, Needles, in Back to the Future 2 & 3.

I think I've got a couple no one else has mentioned yet:

Levon Helm: Coal Miner's Daughter and The Right Stuff
Robbie Robertson: Carny (I think that's what it was called. Also had Gary Busey in it)

Robbie was buddies with Scorcese, but Levon made the better films by far...

    Re: BOBBY DARIN/THE VENDORS

Thanks for the heads-up. Who knows, but stuff like this comes out on DVD, eventually. I'd be interested in seeing the completed version.

Who do we contact about this ?

First you have to find out a bit more information to see if any Major Studio had their hands on this. Paramount, Warner, MGM, and so on.

If this was going to be just an independant film perhaps contacting someone from the Estate of Bobby Darin to see if they own the rights to it.

If it's not Public Domain and it's really worth there wild, I'd say write a company like Anchor Bay aka Goodtimes Video and explain to them the why's and stuff of that it should see the light of day and perhaps they might contact the right people to purchase the rights to produce it onto DVD and Video!

Companies like Anchor Bay are always looking for material that none of their other compition has and they are willing to find this type of product to round out there already good library of titles.

So Anchor Bay and GoodTimes are the same company with GoodTimes being used as their PD company with some licensed titles and Anchor Bay for the bulk of their licensed titles?
