My current dream system under construction: comments??

    Too late, mate. I just bought a Nakamichi 700 II from the president of the Holvand company for $200. It was his personal deck. Hovland's chief engineer serviced it and replaced all the belts. As far as the cartridge issue, I see what you are saying but I will be using a low/entry level Benz Micro MC, so I should be fine. Most likely the turntable I'm going to end up with is a JA Michell Hydraulic Reference that I am looking at. It has the fluid tonearm. I'll upgrade later to a Rega tonearm or something if I decide the stock tonearm is inadequate.

    Been there, done that, dude. Check my gear profile. At this point, to me, high-end audiophile gear is as boring as stale corn-bread.

    Can I ask what it is about high end audiophile gear that makes it so boring for you and what do you enjoy more with the older gear?

    It's an interesting issue to me because, as a designer, I'm always having to ask the question "which way is up?".
