This happens periodically with no real consistency. I can be watching TV, listening to CD's or vinyl And the AV will shut down. All of my equipment is running through an older Panamax Power Conditioner.

I've checked all of the obvious - cables touching to cause a short etc. I've unplugged all cables and replugged; I've done a reboot of the AVR; it doesn't seem to be overheating.

Is there some way for me to check whether the AVR is failing; or can I check somehow if there is an electrical supply problem?

Just looking for ideas on how to diagnose the problem further.

    Thanks.

Have you tried resetting the processor (a couple of times if necessary)? Sounds like you've covered the bases...it may be defective though. Is it on a surge protector or pwr conditioner?
