Restored Quad ESL 57, Fisher KX-200 with vintage tubes (avoid JJ garbage!), vintage battery powered Lafayette phono preamp (the best phono preamps are battery powered!), Lenco L75 turntable, Rek-O-Kut S120 tonearm, the underrated, stupendous bargain of the century: the Grado DJ100 cartridge. Listening to "Black Market Clash" and "Fresh Raspberries".

Glad you're ecstatically happy with your system! Mine is completely different (I used to have a vintage system but moved in the modern direction) and I'm that happy with mine. Makes life that much more enjoyable. A system your ecstatic with and the love of a good woman and life is an adventure.

That's cool...those are oldies but goodies. It's always nice to hear from someone who's elated with the performance of their system(s)

It sounds like you're in a very positive place with your system, congrats!... I could be wrong, but I think that means you have 2 options:

    1) change something to try to make it even better, and subsequently drive yourself nuts because it doesn't
    2) relax and groove to the music

    ;)

Speaking of happiness from one's Stereo set. How about you dave ? I know you invested in some great speakers and your Bryston amp is no slouch neither, so how does it sound ?

Don't tweak!! Once I get my system to a point of perfection I start trying to get it better and mess it up. Listen to the music and not the setup now you've got it sounding good. Enjoy!!

All the very best to you. From this on I would be inclined to LEAVE IT as far as tweaking & upgrading is concerned. I am in a similar position where I am happy with looks , build quality & sound. Is there better out there? Of course there is but they are priced silly money so not fussed!

In order to get here in the first place, I had to know what I was doing. It wasn't an accident. I have a vision. It can be refined. Therefore, it is safe to proceed.

How hard was it to fit that Rek O Kut arm on the Lenco? I'm thinking of the same combo.

It took me over a year of just moving the speakers, sometimes a foot, many times fractions of inches. When I hit the sweet spot which I actually thought might be impossible, everything snapped into place. Not only sound stage but also the bass. Don't touch my speakers!

I feel the same way about my present system. I love it!
Getting ready to roll my output (EL34) tubes, just because. But; I am digging the sound I have now.

Yes a feel good thread, can I join in to say I, after four years without a change, wake each day and say is this really my system.
