Has anyone had success recently with restoration of a Nait 1?

I've just had mine recapped by the only authorized local service department and it didn't work out, so my next step is to send it out of town. I just need to know where.

I wouldn't send it anywhere but Naim*; yes, an expensive proposition. But a "chrome bumper" Nait is a special piece.

*Presuming they still do recapping of heritage kit - I haven't owned any Naim for awhile.

AVOptions is the only place outside the UK to send Naim for proper service. Chris West and company have been doing it since the beginning and their service/restorations are the very best.

Those early Naim Naits are getting like gold. I have the 3 and the newer intergrated are not quite sounding like these early models sadly.

Chris West at AV Options is the only way to go. He was with Naim USA during their existence. AV Options is now the authorized service center for Naim.

Interesting, I have a Nait 2 that is 24 years young and still sounds good. The AVO route seems interesting but expensive. When you say (GreenFuz) that you used an authorized service that 'did not work out', is there something they did wrong?

    Oh yeah.

Against my explicit instructions he changed the values in the power supply. Unthinkable. I took it home anyway and it sounded ridiculous.
Now the values are corrected, but after more than a hundred hours playing in it's bright and etched.

I just want my life back.

"I think Neil James in the SF Bay Area sometimes does Naim restoration."

Neil re-capped my Nait 1 (red LED) and did a great job.
