Produced by Bill Stevenson and Stephen Egerton from the band Descendents, Hagfish were a great band from the 1990s who maintained a loyal following in Europe and received some attention in America from MTV and skateboarding package tours.

The Delevantes were a country-rock/folk-rock duo consisting of brothers Bob and Mike from New Jersey. After their first album with Rounder, they released a major label album entitled "Postcards From Along The Way" in 1997.

The Delevantes' second album was on Capitol/EMI. Produced by Garry Tallant from the E Street Band, Tallent also toured with The Delevantes.

For the 1990s, the Maryland-based rock group Greenberry Woods comes to mind.

Another gem from the second Greenberry Woods album from the mid-1990s.

The Mock Turtles were big for a millasecond in the UK. Singer Martin Coogan is the brother of actor Steve Coogan. Really love this song.

I realize that; this was their big "mainstream" moment.

90s rock singer-songwriter Freedy Johnston was briefly given some attention when his song 'This Perfect World" was featured in the film "Kingpin."

apologies if this was already mentioned, but Big Wreck's "The Oaf" was a track that received a fair bit of mainstream rock radio and music television attention in the fall of 1997. for all intents and purposes, this band dropped off the face of the earth immediately after.

    not a bad song, either

That makes three 90s cannonball-inspired songs, counting the Breeders and Oasis (Champagne Supernova).

Adorable. Very fine British shoegaze band that only put out 2 albums. I believe all of the members have abandoned the music scene, which is a shame, as they recorded some incredible material

That whole album is great, and the band were just ahead of their time. While they may be somewhat forgotten here, they are most assuredly not in their native country of Canada.

Big Wreck released a second album, The Pleasure And The Greed in 2001, which while it didn't do much in the States was still a Top 10 album in Canada. (The debut is Double Platinum there, too.) After that, main singer/songwriter/guitarist Ian Thornley started a new group called Thornley, who released two albums - Come Again (in 2004) and Tiny Pictures (in 2009) - both of which were also Top 10 Canadian albums.

In 2010 Ian Thornley reunited with former Big Wreck guitarist Brian Dohrety, and along with most of the Thornley band became Big Wreck again. Since then, the band has released two of their best albums - Albatross (in 2012 Canada, 2013 US) and Ghosts (in 2014) - both Top 5 selling albums in Canada that I highly recommend checking out. Ian Thornley is also set to release his first official solo album, Secrets, which will be a mostly acoustic based record , on October 30th of this year.

They still hit the west coast almost every year. Their last 2 records were incredible too. Hugely underrated band.

They've probably already been mentioned, but alt-psych rock The Lilys (which is mainly just one guy, Kurt Heasley) had a brief moment of success with their great mini album A Brief History of Amazing Letdowns and finally a surprise hit with "Nanny in Manhattan" (thanks to being featured in a Roman Coppola directed Levis ad) from Better Can't Make Your Life Better, another favorite of ours from the late 90s. They did do a few albums after that, but never seemed to develop more than a cult following.
