I've got the Quad release of 'Wish You Were Here', and like it a bunch.

Since EMI has announced a partnership with DTS to release DVD-A discs of key artists, I suspect we'll see some surround Pink Floyd DVD-A before too long!

She Love's You - The Beatles

Love Me Do - The Beatles

Tell Me Why - The Beatles the original movie version from "A Hard Day's Night before the double tracked vocal was added or use both but in different channels!

That would be hilarious! Kind of like "The Troggs" tapes. Is there an actual recording of CSN&Y going at it at the Fillmore? Man--I would love to hear that.

"Hey---that's my toot"---"I don't see your name on it"--"I'm tellin' Bill!"

You'll get the chance to hear that soon when the SACD comes out!

I always liked the quad record because you basically turn off the choir and orchestra!

Since DSOTM came out in SACD I suspect all PF will come out on SACD first.

I'd also like to nominate ELO's Concerto for a Rainy Day

It's not a song, but I'd love to hear
How Can You Be In Two Places At Once by The Firesign Theatre in Surround Sound!

Since we've been allowed to name three by the person who started this thread, I guess that I must. ;)

    Radiohead: 'Airbag'
U2: 'Where the Streets Have no Name'
    Fiona Apple: 'Limp'

XTC- Grass (from Skylarking) (I really hope that Skylarking is mixed for 5.1 some day--it would be dreamy!)

This would be my choice also.

While we have the live version of Kashmir in surround on the new DVD, I'm hoping to get the studio version in surround (and eventually the remainder of the Zep catalog as well).

For me some of the Moody Blues would be interesting.

This thread reminded me of something I heard a couple of years ago.

My wife sings in a local choir and I was taken along to Salisbury Cathedral to hear a recorded performance of Thomas Tallis' 40 Part Motet where each of the 40 choir members was recorded onto their own track and replayed through 40 individual speakers set in a circle. The listeners were encouraged to walk around within the soundscape. It was quite possible to stand next to a speaker and hear just one voice.

I tried to get a look at the hardware but ( probably very wisely ) it was all locked away and no one in attendance had access to it.

Follow the link if you are keen to be bored a little more: -

Actually, with the multi channels available on DVDA and SACD this technique could be used with some bands too. It could lead to some er.....interesting mixes!

However, I digress..... end of ramble back to the topic.

Non classical: Supertramp - Goodbye Stranger. I suspect that a lot of their material would sound superb in 5.1, and I would be very surprised if the multitracks were not available.

Classical: J.S. Bach - Brandenburg Concertos - Trevor Pinnock / English Concert. I would be more interested in a true surround mix rather than using the rear channels purely for ambience.

Jazz: Modern Jazz Quartet - Walking Stomp.

Speaking of Supertramp, I think the whole album "Crime of the Century" would be pretty awesome in 5.1, especially the first track, "School" with the kid sounds, etc.
