For rock, my perennial nominee is Andrew Latimer of Camel.
    For jazz, Phil Upchurch.
For blues, maybe Snooks Eaglin...although I could think of others...

    Yours?...:)

Peter Green. Respected, but you rarely hear his name mentioned alongside many of his contemporaries.

Peter Green is a good choice - absolutely killer in his prime, but not as well known or respected as his contemporaries.

While I could be wrong 'cause I'm fairly new to jazz, it seems like one my favourite sax players doesn't get quite the love he deserves: Eddie Harris.

    Ollie Halsall.

And if I had to choose a runner-up, Ollie Halsall.

Jack Pearson replaced Warren Haynes in the Allman Brothers Band
for a few years. He is, IMO, a very underrated guitarist. And he
handles rock, blues and jazz with equal aplomb.

    1. Rory Gallagher. He is a legend, but he should be a household name too.

Have to say those are a couple of solid nominations. I think Rypdal is a true original, and of course the Earring had hits but you never here people talking about George as a guitar player. That guy plays some really, really cool stuff.

    Good picks!
