    Hi,

I just found an absolutely mint english mono pressing of Nat Cole's "Love Is The Thing" in a thrift store's $1 bin (pre-1965, I think). The sonics are just short of fantastic, much less echo than on my early Capitol CD, and a very warm and intimate sound. How would this LP compare to the DCC disc? Ya know, I'd really like to put my hands on one, but what is it going for nowadays? $150? $200?

    Best, Arne

How does it compare? Apples and oranges. The LP is mono, the DCC Gold CD or LP is stereo and from a different microphone feed altogether.

I do think the mono mix is nice; the cello is fully miked and even though it lacks the dynamics of the three-track to two-track mix I created, it's can hold up on it's own nicely, especially for a dollar. :)

DCC's "Love Is The Thing" is in stereo with echo ... except for the dry "Stardust" bonus track which appears on the 1st pressings ... and the CD sounds wonderful :)
