    cb,
I have the Greatest Hits on Buddha on CD. All Buddha (and any other CD remasters I've heard of Spoonful) all sound harsh. And this is even after they have found the masters which were missing for so long. "City" is particularly vicious sounding ... the sibilant sounds on Sebastian's vocals alone make even Inglot's piercing work sound mild by comparison! We need a Tonmeister remaster here for sure.

Have you checked out Steve's mastering of 16 Greatest Hits for both the Mamas and the Papas and Steppenwolf? There's NO WAY you're gonna hear anybody duplicate the same sound, especially on California Dreaming. Steve had to do some pretty funky EQ moves on that one.

    Matt,
Haven't got Steve's M's and P's or Wolf yet, though I hope he eventually redoes them on SACD (After all, the AF Zombies SACD represents a noticeable sonic improvement over the previous DCC CD, as great as the original was).

Check out The Left Banke -"There's Gonna Be A Storm"-Complete Recordings. IMO, Bill Inglot did a wonderful job with all of the Left Banke material. This disc is a winner!

I wish Sony would finish the catalog overhauls begun on Cheap Trick and The Psychedelic Furs. And I hope we're still getting more Sly & The Family Stone and Lindsey Buckingham-era Fleetwood Mac remasters after the excellent two-disc comps.

    Strange Design,
I already have "There's Gonna Be a Storm," which is the compilation of Left Banke remasters and remixes. Though I must say in all honesty that Inglot's work here is not quite as grating on the ears as in some of his other projects, his "remix" of "Walk Away Renee" is not balanced vocally (compare the backing harmonies to the original track and you'll see they're not blended properly). To be fair, the original stereo mix of the tune has always left a good deal to be desired, but this version is not correct, either. Inglot has done much better with the other Left Banke classic, "Pretty Ballerina," also on this compilation (though, even here, the levels of the strings in the middle of the piece should have been higher in the mix) . We still need a masterstroke by Steve here to put these classic Left Banke tunes in their proper perspective. I know he is the only one who can really do it ....and the only one who CARES to do it RIGHT!

Hey guys - StrawberryFields asked us which singles need to be remastered!!

I can't think of ten, but off the top of my head, I's say:

96 Tears by ? and the Mysterians
    Cuban Slide by Pretenders

I would love to hear a real nice remix of Springsteen's The River. It sounds so tinny and there's no depth and warth to it. It could use that SH touch.
