i should know the answer to this and shame on me ahead of time for not knowing.

considering that their careers sort of paralleled, i was wondering if neil young ever played with any of the 4 beatles at any time on anything.

i don't think so, and i find it very odd that it never happened.

Neil had A Day in the Life in his set about ten years ago, on one of the dates Paul came out from the side of the stage to sing the woke up, fell out of bed part.

Great rendition. Paul and Neil are great friends, stemming from Neil's friendship with Linda.

I believe Neil inducted Paul McCartney into the Hall of Fame in 1999.

In John Lennon’s final interview with Playboy, he was highly critical of the “better to burn out than to fade away” philosophy of Rust Never Sleeps.

Neil and Ringo were part of the Last Waltz end-of-show jam sessions.

"At the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio, Neil Young's display contains a telegram that he received from Paul and Linda McCartney in 1979. It read:

    Neil,
Linda and I have been listening to Live Rust over and over, side four kicks ass.
    Lotta Love,
    Paul"

From Lennon's interview in RS, 1971:

    WENNER:
What music do you listen to today?
    LENNON:
If you want the record bit, since I’ve been listening to the radio here, I like a few things by Neil Young and something by Elton John. There are some really good sounds, but, then there is usually no follow-through. There will be a section of fantastic sound come over the radio, then you wait for the conclusion, or the concept or something to finish it off, but nothing happens except it just goes on to a jam session or whatever.

Seeing Neil Young walk out on stage to induct Paul into the Hall of Fame was a cool surprise-----there aren't many surprises like that in the internet age.

Ringo and Neil were on consecutive Nils Lofgren albums (the two on Rykodisc), but I think that's close as it gets.

"He also offered the dream lineup’s only headliner cross-pollination, joining McCartney for “A Day in the Life,” “Give Peace a Chance” and “Why Don’t We Do It in the Road?” both weekends. (“A Day in the Life” has actually been in Young’s repertoire for years, and he shared a memorable version onstage with McCartney at London’s historic Hyde Park in 2009.)

Young isn’t sure who made the initial call about reprising the sit-in at Desert Trip but says they rehearsed the song punk-rock style in his trailer backstage. “We were in there just singing, working out some changes and things,” he says. “It’s great to play with Paul—I’ve always loved Paul. We’ve been good friends for a long time and it just grew out of a natural lifetime of things that have happened to both of us, and people that we’ve known in common. He’s such a great musician, and I enjoyed being able to get up there with him and give him something to bounce off of—give him a little bit of something else.”

There are some that say if the Buffalo Springfield stayed together longer with Neil, they could have been much much bigger.
