    Just saw this on Facebook

    Hi there,
December 1st will be a big day for me. The Visitor will be coming to your town. I will be going to my town. You will be able to hear me and see me. My archive will open on that same day, a place you can visit and experience every song I have ever released in the highest quality your machine will allow. It’s the way it’s supposed to be. In the beginning, everything is free.
    Lots of Love,

Facts would be nice, rather than speculation.

Yes...let's keep this thread free of lies and speculation.

Cheers to the arrival of the Archives -- think he means EVERYTHING?

Or do you suspect it will be unveiled in small parts over the years?

Every song released. So doubtful there’ll be any unreleased Archives material - at first, at least.

or does it mean 'every song he ever recorded, released to the public or not?
  11. Oooh, interesting. I'd still like to get a physical Vol 2 at some stage to keep my Vol 1 company, but am intrigued to see exactly how the online archives will work. Hopefully we'll get clarification soon on what the plan is going forward - online with individual releases or online, individual releases and boxset (or some other variation).

I'm also wondering how the songs will be organized. Will they be grouped by album or just one long list in alpha order. Hopefully there will be a good search function.

That was my first thought too. Hoping to be proved wrong and we'll get even one or two nice bonuses but I'd say it's doubtful at the beginning.

It apparently will be very similar to the Archives Bluray/DVD interface, judging from those three pictures posted on the official website:

Would be keen. I suspect he means only albums he's released, not the archives.

Confusing. In that Note, Neil says the Archive will represent every track he's ever produced (?) Then goes on to say we will have access to everything he's ever released. Does this mean the unreleased tracks are not available to hear, but just documented?

I can't shake this feeling that Archives Vol. 1 was solely created/released as a sampler/fundraiser for this "Definitive" online Archive project because doing all of this was not cheap, especially if it's been in the pipeline for so long. Money has to be coming in from somewhere. Wouldn't also be surprised if the box was also put out to buy time with the copyright laws and beat any chance of the earlier unreleased material falling into public domain by inducing new copyrights until the online Archive was ready.
