Would a kind Gort please merge this thread with the original one thats been around since late April? Pointless having two threads about the exact same release. Thank you. Neil Young - Hitchhiker - new Archives (studio?) release?
My opinions re: Neil are just subjective. However, I do think there's a consensus the 70's (and to some extent the 60's) were a time of a singular and extraordinary creative run, virtually unparalled. I've done Neil the respect of seriously listening for a long time, so my opinion such as it is, is at least substantiated by context. But really, if someone likes Neils recent output, I'm certainly not trying to argue them out of enjoying it. It just got frustrating for me waiting for another "Goldrush" or "Rust Never Sleeps" or even "Comes a Time" because I think he still has that in him. Though they have their moments, these spur of the moment albums seem more impulsive than inspired.
I wasn't implying anything. I just find it interesting that everyone likes different albums of his post '92 output.
I like MOST of Neil's albums post '92... Too many great songs to ignore! Definitely worth investigating.
Given that it was both a Crazy Horse "reunion"/"comeback" the long, drawn out jammy songs I'll allow- you can tell they were having a good time playing together. Pill is like side one of Broken Arrow writ large that way, at least that's what it reminds me of. I agree it's one of those "mood" records. I'm surprised my wife liked it (she's not a fan of long, drawn out songs generally speaking) based on the Alchemy Tour show we saw. but she did take a power snooze during "Ramada Inn"
I didn't take it negatively. Just trying to clarify my perspective. No emoticons showing the peace sign!
don't get too excited, this neil young........................until it is your hands..................

If this is true then it's my most anticipated Neil release in a very long time. Of course, this being Neil, all things are subject to change. Or cancellation.
"The unreleased solo acoustic album recorded in 1976, which includes includes solo, acoustic songs recorded in 1976 at the Indigo Ranch Studios in Malibu, California and featuring 2 previously unreleased songs! More information to follow..."
It's OK to me and last time I listened to it I played it straight through without getting too bored, but some of the lyrics are abysmal.
This could be great. I'm very interested... Actually, having read more, this will be great. I can't wait... Nice sleeve too.
