I notice that if you click on "Discography" on this site, you get a list of this guy's credits, with Hitchhiker (2017 ) listed at the top, as in "most recent." Below that is Neil Young Original Release Series 05-08 and Neil Young Original Release Series 8.5-12 leading me to conclude that Hitchhiker is real and it's his next release after the two ORS boxes. What it is exactly remains to be seen. It could also be an aborted Record Store Day single though....or a coffee table book cover....
oh goodness i hope volume 2 happens this year. if it were any other artist, it would all make sense... but neil is different, and time doesn't exist on the ranch.
I also said it could be a book cover, but it looks more like a coffee table book, a book of photographs....
"After he wraps his current tour in October, Young will continue work on Archives II, the follow-up to 2009's Archives, which collected unreleased material up to 1972. Young says the project will include Dume, an album of songs from the Zuma era, and Hitchhiker, an acoustic LP from the mid-Seventies." It's gotta be an album. Everything else on Gary's discography page is an album cover. Plus on his "discography list" these are the top 3 for 2017 2017 NEIL YOUNG / HITCHHIKER - Art Direction, Design NEIL YOUNG / ORIGINAL RELEASE SERIES 05-08 BOX SET - Art Direction, Design NEIL YOUNG / ORIGINAL RELEASE SERIES 8.5-12 BOX SET - Art Direction, Design
New "Super Deluxe" section in Neil's online store: Neil Young Music Page Speculation this will be for NYA Special Release Series with Hitchhiker being the first release.
I mean, one of my favorite Neil songs, but I think we'd all rather this be recordings no one has heard. Especially considering I'd expect Interstate to be on the Broken Arrow reissue, whenever that comes around.
Is 'Interstate' a mid-1970's tune? In quality it could be, but I thought it was later (Harvesters era).
It's not the same version though. This album is solo acoustic whereas the 'Broken Arrow' version is a re-recording with Crazy Horse. I'd imagine a fair few songs on this are 'familiar' - Neil often re-records later. Presumed tracks so far: Hitchhiker Interstate Shots
Here is my prediction on the track list. 1.Hitchiker. 2. Sad Movies. 3. Shoots. 4. Powderfinger. 5. Ride my Lama. 6. Let it shine. 7. Born To Run. 8. Changing Highways. 9. Give me strenght
I'll go for: Pocahontas Human Highway Hitchhiker The Old Country Waltz Powderfinger Ride My Llama Captain Kennedy Hawaii Give Me Strength Campaigner
Interstate first appeared part way through the 1985 tour, and Neil introduced it at the shows as being a new song. Is there any evidence of it existing before that tour? The other two old songs recorded during the Ragged Glory sessions (Country Home and White Line) were indeed from the mid-Seventies, which may be where the uncertainty arises from.
