I've got over 22 discs, including this set, of this type of material. Even if the rest of the Archives never comes out, I have plenty to keep me busy.

Not shown up on Amazon UK yet but I imagine it'll happen soon enough.

Good that TFA is finally getting a CD release and the other remastered albums are a bonus especially Live Rust which I understand is the unedited version with reinstated full length Cortez. Looking forward to getting these.

Or Stills being such a complete horse's azz, that Neil decided to go home and work on something else, than put up with it.

You've got to imagine there was a ton of cocaine around, and some folks get jacked up and all vocal on it (Stills) and some get quiet, intense and edgy on it (Young).

So while "throat" issues obviously could be a legitimate residue of that habit, I'd wager that Young just got sick of being around Stills off stage and the long down time between gigs.

Both releases now listed on Amazon.co.uk but currently for email alert only.

I have one of these too. A real silver aluminum CD. I always thought it was a boot, but maybe it's the real promo released back then. HDCD flag too. Sounds great! It'll be interesting how different the new one sounds.

Has there been any indication as to whether there will be individual CDs released from this series or are they just available via the two boxes?

    Sparked by these great posts,
I thought of a few imaginary box sets that aren't too far afield for Neil Young fans:

Journey(s) Through The Past: various recording sessions

    Arc-Weld "steel-box" Deluxe

    TransSessions

The Ducks Live In Santa Cruz

Harvested Moon - collected recordings, live TV appearances, live concert

Everybody's Rockin' (SuperDeluxe Expanded CD - which still fits on 1 disc, since the original album is only 25:55 long)

If too limited in scope for General Music Consumption, I can imagine these marketed and sold on his website as limited numbered editions.

Perhaps due to being a perfectionist, or his penchant for a quick shifting attention-span, it's doubtful Mr. Shakey would release miscellaneous session tape like Bob Dylan's mega-box.

Obviously these are pipe-dreams, but it doesn't take much time to at least think up any potential archival releases. No matter how unlikely.

It's been 15 hours without an update--anybody heard if these will be in jewel cases? :p

Seriously though--re Beach & Stars n Bars, any reason at all to hold onto the original Tim Mulligan "Digital Masterpiece" CD's? Maybe for the HDCD?
Wonder if the mastering will remain untouched.

I would like to know that too because back in 2009 the standout releases 1-4 included booklet with the original artwork, while the collected set that appeared later had a single paper sheets with the front covers on the front and the technical information on the back.

Are the PONO versions (which surely will be the ones used for the CDs) different masterings than the 2003 remastered CDs then?

ignoring the other rude answers you received...

i haven't seen any news. i keep periodically checking amazon to see if any new art gets posted, but so far nothing. like you, i am really hoping for matching jewel case artwork with discs 1-4. i want nothing more than a full NYA ORS cd collection, with matching spines and cases on my shelf. how cool would that be?!

Yup, Disc Diggers in Somerville, MA had a full box (25 copies) of them that they sold for $8.99/each before the release was canceled. I passed. Oops.

Holy crap, I used to date a girl that lived down the street from Disc Diggers right around that time and I'd very regularly browse the bins there. I can't believe I missed out on this!!
