Neo Psych Fans: King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard..Far Out!

Word is they have a new album in the can, ready to be announced/released pretty soon.
After being spoiled in 2017 with a new album almost every two months, waiting 7 months for one album is far too long!

 

Haha! I was thinking the same thing! It'd be perfectly reasonable if they didn't even put out a 2018 release. It's crazy to think we'd expect a band to release new material 1-2 times each year. These guys and Thee Oh Sees have set a new standard.

 

Ty Segall is very prolific as well.

Ty is prolific. I don't want to knock him, b/c I definitely respect him and like his older stuff (Slaughterhouse is really good), but I kinda lost interest in his more recent stuff. I haven't been able to get into anything since Manipulator.

Dude seems pretty cool though. I should try with his newer stuff again.

 

That pressing by @MrRom92 sounds really, REALLY good. Not to mention that the jacket album presentation is among the best of the other versions of the album I've ever seen.

 

I’m taking a short lunch break from packing copies as we speak, I get to stare at the jacket artwork all day… still no complaints from me

 

Cool. 2012's Hair is a great album.

 

Hey my dudes, since we're talking about Ty. Have any of you heard his old stuff with the Traditional Fools? It's pretty awesome.

 

The Gizz boys have been teasing on social media about "opening up their vaults", which I assume to mean that their harder to find albums are going back to press, which bodes well for 'Float Along... + Oddiments', among others.

 

There've been whispers on this for a while now in the Gizz scene. It almost seems certain they'll reissue 12 Bar Bruise and others. I'm hoping they even dredge up Wiloughby's Beach.

I wonder if they'll include new art in any form?

 

Now, THAT is what I'm talk'n about!

I'd wager the first round mentioned in the news letter would be offered through Flightless. After the initial limited supply release, I'd say it's anyone's guess as to who will carry them.

I'd suggest hanging out on the Flightless site on the day of to try and snag an order. They'll likely sell out quickly. People have been whispering about this for quite a while and these reissues are likely on a lot of people's wish list.

The first five titles from King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard’s incredible back catalogue will be reissued on 12” vinyl for the first time this year with re-imagined artwork, packaging, liner notes and wax colors. ⁣
