If they were to release the three CDs from the super-deluxe set in a package like Dylan's new album I'll be on that in a heartbeat.

Bring it on!!! I'd love a nice reissue of "Spunk" which plays at the right speed.

What? The Slits were supporting the Pistols at this time so how could the little girl be Ari Up?

    I saw that too.

Bizarre that this would precede a definitive SPUNK set. If they have first generation tape sources for all the tracks (the 2012 set featured about half the recordings, all in great sound) it should be the first priority. I'm all for them expanding such a set with other early demos.

The July 1976 demos were released with great sound in The Mini Album, except for Pretty Vacant, which you find in right speed in We've Cum For Your Children, with the same great sound. The January 1977 demos, which originally had a weaker sound, were released in its entirety in one of the the 35th box set CDs sounding now very nice.

So a Spunk great CD can be easily home made. A new release would be essential only if they put all this material together in a well mastered and cut vinyl, since the remastered '77 demos are not available in vinyl.

"Spunk" features different mixes to those you've listed though...
It would be nice to get them at the correct speed/pitch, etc.

Yes, different mixes, you are right. There is also that definitive mix of the '76 demos in which Dave was working, then he passed away and it never surfaced.

I seem to recall some controversy regarding the "distant" vocal on Belsen Was A Gas on the last Bollocks reissue. Can anyone enlighten me?

John sings lyrics he never sang live in the Sex Pistols days and only came up with years later in PiL and some people consider this and the weird effects as an evidence that those vocals were not recorded in 1977.

Aha, thanks for the info. Maybe he intended to use it for a PiL album...

I saw Glen Matlock interviewed at Rebellion Fest a couple of weeks back, and he talked about the band being unable to get to square one on a 40th Anniversary Tour. Sounds like no one feels like dealing with Mr. Lydon, or at least I got that impression. He also played an acoustic version fo God Save the Queen, which was pretty cool. I videoed it on my phone and can upload to Youtube if anyone's interested in seeing it.

Also made the pilgrammage to Highgate Cemetery to pay my respects to Mr. McLaren. He's right down the path from Karl Marx's grave, which must have been amusing to him. His epitaph is "Better a spectacular failure, than a benign success,"
