The Nat King Cole Story SACD Shipping from Acoustic Sounds 06/03/11!!!
The header is self-explanatory...Acoustic Sounds' "coming soon" webpage lists this long-awaited item as being released on June 3rd, 2011...THIS FRIDAY!!!
Oh happy day
That's me in the striped suit
Welcome to the party, Hobbes!!!
It's listed as being released on 7 June.
Wow. And, to think, it was June 6, 2009, that Steve first alerted us to this upcoming release!
"Good things come to those who wait"
Great news, I will be ordering this for my Dad (he's been waiting for ages)..
Just placed my order for the last three in the series. Really looking forward to this!
Going off memory here, but weren't there plans to offer some sort of special box that would hold all of the Cole SACDs once all the titles were released?
Good memory, Clark. I had forgotten all about that!

I finally hooked up my 14/14 EQ that's been sitting in a closet for the last 10 years and made a few tweaks to correct the room acoustics with a pink noise generator/spectrum analyzer. Holy cow. I played a few tracks from After Midnight and it's such an incredible difference, I felt like I was hearing the material again for the first time. I'm going to have to listen to all of these releases again - not that I'd have to have my arm twisted.
It will have been eleven months and four days since I pre-ordered "The Nat King Cole Story" SACD at Acoustic Sounds to the time of its arrival at their location in Salina, Kansas, along with the other six titles in the same format...I'm chomping at the bit now for the completion of my purchase and the ability to listen to this beautifully recorded album in high resolution digital audio, thanks to the efforts of Steve, Kevin Gray and Acoustic Sounds/Analogue Productions' Chad Kassem...thanks, guys!!!
I just made sure that my order for this SACD was still valid, since it seems like I placed it years ago (which I'm pretty sure I did) and the good news is, YES! Now, let's hope that the shipping plant that gave them the early June date, finally comes through. This is easily one of the most anticipated releases on my list, since I first heard that Steve Hoffman was doing it. How I dearly wish that Steve could tackle some of the great CAPITOL Sinatra discs in this same format, as well. Nice that he was offered the chance to really shine on these Nat King Cole projects. If anybody has proven their "done with love and care" mastering work, better than Steve has with these, I'd sure wonder who it could be?
Chris, PM me about your post regarding Frank Sinatra...
I was looking at the link for the upcoming Nat King Cole story sacd . Maybe I missed it somewhere, but is there a reason "That Sunday That Summer" isn't going to be on that? Or is it?
"That Sunday, That Summer" was recorded after The Nat King Cole Story was released.
"Lazy-Hazy-Crazy Days of Summer," however, was added as a bonus track.
I didn't realize that. Personally, I would have preferred "That Sunday, That Summer".
"Ramblin' Rose" was added as well. I too would have preferred "Sunday," but it's hard to argue against their inclusion considering how successful those two songs were.
I liked their choice of "Lazy-Hazy-Crazy Days of Summer" since that was the 1st Cole song I became familiar with when I was a kid.
That song evokes memories of great summers as a kid.
"The Nat King Cole Story" on SACD FINALLY arrives at Acoustic Sounds!!!
The circle is now complete..."The Nat King Cole Story" has FINALLY appeared on the "New Arrivals" webpage at www.acousticsounds.com!!!
Thank God. Our long national nightmare is over.
Our SACD players will be getting back to work.
