I don't have it yet, but the remastered mono/stereo studio albums are HDCD. I do have 3 of the Japanese releases from July and they are HDCD.

Especially the Brother material, first at Warners, then moved to CBS,then SONY,then again moved to Capitol..Those tapes really moved around a lot in less than 30 Years!

Most of "Today","Smiley Smile" and "Party" I think are First-Time Stereo.

He was asking about 50 Big Ones, but yes, you are correct about the 3 studio albums.

Thanks. I was surprised that That's Why God... was not HDCD. I'm looking forward to having those mono mixes on CD for the first time even more now.

Has "Summer Days (and Summer Nights)" been released in stereo before?

No. Duophonic. Selected cuts have been issued remixed to true stereo in various compilations, but never the whole album.

A lot of those sounces, according to stories I knew, were either wiped over,or were destroyed by other means..Hope that wasn't the case here.:shake:

No doubt wiped by them to protect anyone from further remastering it,which would be sad news today, indeed!:shake:

The story of why there is no stereo mix or extraction of "The Little Girl I Once Knew" is because part of the rhythm track on the multi tape was accidentally wiped. Also, just as in the case of "I Get Around" and "Help Me Ronda", parts were overdubbed directly onto the mono master during mixing.

There was a great stereo reconstruction of the song going around in the trading circles a few years back. Wish I had downloaded it.

Oh well - I knew it sounded too good to be true! Stereo remixes of Surfin' Safari, The Little Girl I Once Knew, Do It Again... So does that mean that we're not going to get a stereo version of Surfin' Safari album?

I wonder if Wild Honey will be in stereo on 50 Big Ones? :)

I believe it's the vocal track that was wiped midway through the song. (I've heard a copy of the multi, years and years ago.) My recollection tells me the vocal track is fine up to the first chorus then it switches to Brian and someone just talking and fooling around. It's not even anything interesting. It's as if someone punched the record button in by mistake. The backing track seemed complete with all elements as far as I remember.

Jeez, all my copy of that CD ever did was play Beach Boys music.

I must have had a defective pressing. ;)

In the hopes that I don't get a defective one, I ordered a copy for $1.56.

I wonder why my original post was deleted, BTW...

Ah, yes. You are correct. My memory is fading.
    It was the vocal track.

Wasn't the reason I Get Around can't be mixed in stereo that the vocals on the multitrack tape were over-recorded and wiped during the "Concert" studio sessions?

I claimed the same thing in the following thread, not sure if the experts still agree with me. AGD did back then. :)
