Pennies in royalties? That sucks for him. Dave’s sporting a good in that article. God bless him!

Yeah, that confused me. Didn’t Noel Monk cut them a good deal?

    Diamond Dave. There's only one.

  7. The pix with the story are something else too. Never thought the day would come where DLR could play a Lawrence Tierney-style heavy in a noir film, but here we are...

Van Halen split writing credits on every song between the entire band. I didn't read the article, but, he should get exactly what the rest of the band received.

David Lee has always been extremely intelligent, I took that away from his short lived radio show, which I enjoyed. I think the majority of listeners and the suits who hired him expected three hours of sex, drugs, and rock and roll stories, but David Lee always went deeper than that. A lot of guys would be crying in their beers and milking their greatest hits tours for all they are worth, but DLR is going a different route, using the money he does have to start something unique.

Great interview but way too short!

Dave is a true genius, the man has done and mastered so much - music and singing, martial arts, EMT, GO, Japanese painting, mountain climbing, kayaking - all the while touring and recording with VH and solo! Mad props and a bow to Master Roth!

DLR has aged gracefully that's for sure! If you asked me what I thought of DLR back in '84, I would have said, "drunken buffoon". Boy, was I mistaken; DLR is one grounded/disciplined man!

I suspect there is more to come (hopefully) as the title of the article is “131 minutes..”. That didn’t read like a 2+ hour conversation

I remember his MTV interviews 30 years back. He always came off as stoned out of his mind, and maybe he was, but then he'd drop these clever phrases here and there, and you'd think "This guy is way smarter than he pretends to be."

Great interview--not sure how the writer even kept up with half of what he was saying.

I feel the same way about Dave that I do Keith Richards: if the public perception of you is working, why change it?

IIRC, they got a royalty bump during the Hagar years which only applied to those 4 guys. Either in the Hagar-Stern interviews or the unpublished Sammy book chapter.
