i have downloaded some .dsf files, but my Opp0 103 won't see them when i load them onto my Synology NAS which is connected via ethenet cable. It sees all of my hi-rez FLACs just fine, but it pretends that my folders for the .dsf files are empty. I have upgraded firmware and still nothing. What am I missing? Will these only play via USB?

I'm curious what "Reality" sounds like...for a short period of time, I owned the SACD. Suffice to say it a) sounded horrible and b) I think high-res is even less forgiving when it comes to obliterated audio. When I cranked it, it sadly just sounded like...static.

It depends on how the Oppo is accessing the files. There are, fundamentally, two ways. The more common is DLNA and, using that, it will depend on the DLNA driver you are using. Windows Media Server will not "see" DFF/DSF and, in fact, most DLNA servers will not. Minimserver, and some others, will. The easier way, imho, is to use SMB instead of DLNA and it will permit the Oppo to see all the shared files.

Peppers and Eggs is insanely good. Great selection of tunes and killer sound.

Acoustic Sounds should put samples up like HDtracks does. It is nice to be able to sample the actual sound of these downloads. I see the Allman Brothers at Fillmore East recordings going for $71.00:thumbsdow:yikes: There is absolutely no information about the mastering or source.

This PCM sale and the June DSD sale have been the only two sales I have ever seen Acoustic Sounds have on their downloads. Acoustic Sounds has an advantage (bit of monopoly) over HDtracks with the DSD but I buy downloads from Hdtracks far more often simply because of the sales.
AS would do themselves good to have more sales (at least with pcm files) , in my opinion.

Do you know there are only 394 DSD titles on Superhirez? Of those, 150 are non pop and rock, or jazz.

    That is real "advantage" alright.

And like you I buy from HDT. I don't think they really get it at superhirez.

I buy from HDT & SHR.
HDT is far more hit & miss, imo, but they do have the most titles by far.
One needs to do a lot of reading before buying anything from HDT, if they care about confirming that what they think they're paying for is what they are paying for.

Yes, while HDT gets most of my business, AS gets all my DSD business.

Not a lot, 15 titles or so. I have not bought hardly any downloads the last 2-3 months waiting to see what Ponomusic will have.

I can't be sure, but I am betting Pono will have no DSD.

I don't think HDTracks is losing sleep over DSD.

DSD from Pono and HDtracks would be a customer service nightmare

Ponomusic probably has crossed HDT's mind a few times. I am just waiting on some pricing from Pono.

I can't imagine the pricing will be different than HDT. Unless they have some sort of membership fee you pay annually that gets you discounted pricing.
