Does anyone from the New England area remember a tv station's sign-on (PBS??) that had a leaf floating downstream with accompanying instrumental music?

Sounds better than much of today's television!

That YouTube vid gave me a flashback. Yes, I remember seeing that sign-on on WLVI. I would have thought it would have been years before 1986, though. Wonder why the OP was looking for it?

I'd watch a half hour of Leaf Floating Downstream over any modern sitcom any day of the week. That looks nice. :)

Heck, the test pattern (which I would date to 1975-76 in terms of when first put into service - a Tele-Measurements TM-501 slide with station info added, B.T.W) would be preferential to much of what passes for "entertainment" on TV today.

Well, I guess I have a faulty memory. I thought the entire sign-on was the camera following a single leaf all the way downstream. I had it in my head that it was one of the PBS stations from Boston, MA or Providence, RI.

Anyway, I guess when I was home sick from school I watched TV all day and that stuck out in my mind. Ah, yes "I Love Lucy", " McHale's Navy", "Hogan's Heroes", " The Courtship of Eddie's Father", "Family Affair", " The Brady Bunch", "Bob Newhart Show", etc. etc.

Yep, WLVI, WSBK, WXNE, WGBH, WSBE, WGBX and later, WVJV (V66)

TV is always better when you're watching it sick (or pretending to be sick) home from school. :)
