Forgot to mention...this is still with the stock tubes so far.

Which tubes come with it? Or are they LM-rebranded ones?

    Shuguang, most likely.

JJ in the unit. Standard Chinese for the power supply (not sure who makes it).

With the new products rolling out from LM, you are starting to see a few with new production Mullard, JJ and Tung-Sol in some of them (the 88ia I got in has JJ and Mullard in it).

Any updates? How does it sound compared to what you had before? Any details you can give us would be appreciated. :)

That is sort of interesting. I'm not sure if it is a good or bad thing, as I try to avoid all these Russian and Chinese tubes as a general rule. Although for some output tubes, they are really the only affordable options these days. Aren't JJ tubes the bottom of the barrel, even among these new production tubes? I guess I have just developed that sense from reading about them here or there.

I've been able to spend about 2 hours with demo unit so far (so not all that much), but I'm really digging it. Like mentioned before, very quite. Good detail and soundstage, although I imagine that will only improve as I get more hours on it.

For new production stock, I like the JJ's actually. The units that are coming with these tubes are for sure an upgrade over the lower end Chinese tubes they had been coming with (most were rebranded Sino's from what I could tell). I was quite happy to see this change.

Taylor, any confirmation yet on tube rolling options (12AX7 or 5751, or 6X4 for the rectifier)? Thanks!

Hey! I have a tube adapter ordered and on the way for this....so not sure yet if the 6X4 will fit once the adapter is installed. I'll be sure to post back once I figure that out.

I was hoping the 6X4 would work without the adapter. Since they specifically mention the 6X4 in the manual, I remain optimistic.

Also wondering if using the adapter would cost the tube to hit the top of the casing or possibly prevent it from closing.

No, I don't see how that would be possible. Unless a few minor wire changes are made to the tube socket.

That's why I ordered the socket....to see if the tube will still fit. I think it's going to be close, but I'm hopeful it will work ok.

As an fyi, I just received notice that the socket adapter I ordered has shipped. Of course it's coming from overseas, but hopefully I'll have it in hand sometime next week.

The JJ’s that came with my rogue cm2 were not that bad honestly. Not sure if my expectations were just super low from reading so much bad press about them or what but I didn’t find them as horrible as I would have expected when I put them back in after extensive NOS listening it. (Small tubes only)

Seem to recall JJ had issues with tubes other than the 12au7 and 12ax7’s I had.

What tubes did you replace them with?

My personal experience with JJs was a dull midrange, lack of detail in the bass, and aggressive highs... in guitar amps.

    I tried:
12au7: early 60’s bugle boys, 60’s Mullards, rca clear tops, cv4003 mullard
12ax7: Rca blackplates (late 50s), Amperex Heerlen (1966), telefunken (ribbed), Mullards (mid ‘60’s)

I ultimately kept early an 60’s bugle boy and a cv4003 for the main pre tube (I loved both for different reasons and switch them every few weeks); 60’s Mullards for the other two 12au7’s and the 66 amperex heerlen’s for the 12ax7s

I was really hoping the other four tubes would not be noticeable but they made a difference.

I didn’t notice aggressive highs on the JJ’s but do agree the mids were darker than I like

Greetings to all and my first virgin post in this forum.
Not much a reviewer but have recorded some videos of the LP-33 Phono with AS-125 (love it!) in action. While it might not do justice to the sound in it's digitised form, hopefully it give you an ideal of the sound.
As compared to the Project Phono Box RS, the LP-33 has a more meaty and lushness tone to it.
