I hate it when they chop up old episodes of shows into compilations- I love the sets of Beatles Ed Sullivan Shows because they have EVERYTHING, plate spinners and all.

Would love to find the episode where guests were "oldies" acts. Jerry Lee Lewis hosted it. Guests included Freddy Cannon, Little Anthony & The Imperials, and Lloyd Price. Can't recall the others. I had this on cassette tape for many years, but haven't listened to it for over 30 years.

I think there is no addition vintage clips. Just newly created interviews.

I bought the whole original series. Makes me kind of mad when they reissue stuff and then add a few clips you would have loved to have had. Not rebuying them again.,

    A $99 for 11 DVDs sound reasonable.....but 1 DVD of comedians and 1 DVD of interviews.....ugghhh!

I have to imagine that when the shows were filmed, the producers didn't get clearances / sync licenses for all future formats. So we're stuck with whatever they can clear now.

Too bad. I agree that it would be preferable to have the unedited shows. Even better would be to have all the live footage that was filmed for the show. Presumably, they didn't have artists just film one or two songs...?

On the Time-Life page, it's odd that they pick some artists to be "featured artists" on each disc, and other artists are...what?...chopped liver?

These are the ONLY 2 dvds that have actual Midnight Special musical performances that are not included with the 6-dvd set. All the other discs in the 11 dvd set and the deluxe 20 dvd set are comedy, interviews and a lot of Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame performances.

Wow. Thanks for pointing this out, I hadn't realized the track listings for each disc were available on the Time-Life site. I'm definitely going to get the 6-disc-plus-bonus-disc set at Costco - it would be nice to have discs 7 and 8 from the bigger sets, but there's no way I'm paying a $70 premium for those two discs, as I'm not real interested in the comedy or RRHOF stuff.

I haven't opened it up yet, but it appears from the packaging that it's interviews with Peter Frampton, Alice Cooper, and Loggins & Messina -- and various featurettes...Wolfman at Midnight, Star-studded Stage Fashion, Helen Reddy as Host, The History of The Midnight Special, etc
