Not a very well recorded album iirc. But sure hope they open it up more and let it breath. Great choice by mfsl is done right.

Outstanding suggestion :)! "A Rock and Roll Alternative" would be another ARS title on SACD that would be great!

I believe for it's time it was well recorded BUT yeah, with today's technology let's have another go at it. For it to be on MFSL release schedule that's a real good thing which we all agree on.

They did a great job on the live album, so it is possible they can improve Rides Again IMO.

One From the Heart is a great sounding record, cleanly engineered with a wide variety of dynamics, from loud brassy tracks to the one song is just Tom and tympani's.

The best thing to do is suggest this stuff to the label via email and see what they say.

So agree, I am fortune enough to have it on the MFSL aluminum cd. It smokes!

As per Steve Hoffman, all you need is a pair of vintage "Altec horn studio monitors"

The other issue is that Layla (at least the title track) is terribly out of tune.

I noticed "Painted from memory" / Elvis Costello & Bacharach. Anyone know if that is upcoming, or referencing an old MOFI ? I checked on the mofi and MD sites and did not find it, so am curious. Thank you

I wish they'd finish the Judas Priest albums from 2 years ago. At the very least, British Steel, Point Of Entry & Defenders of the Faith.

Why can't we remaster it to "mimic" those Altec speakers to fix it back to neutral?

It is renown as a very poor recording/source material...so good luck with that.

Hoping they see fit to release James Gang Rides Again on SACD.

It would also be nice to have Miles - Water Babies released by MoFi. They've done the rest of the catalog from that period.

This UK record is the best I know of and the one for mfsl to beat:

    Polydor Super 2625 005:

    Side 1: 2335009 A//1 420
    Side 2: 2335009 B//2 420
    Side 3: 2335010 A//1 420
    Side 4: 2335010 B//2 420

As far as Layla being "out of tune", that was done to the recording on purpose.
