No doubt it will be another victim of excessive dynamic range compression, BUT...the new single listened to via YouTube on my crappy Apple in ear buds sounds awesome! Lots of classic NIN DNA here, rockin' tune.

They won me over by doing a "Polybius" themed music video. :-D

Loving the new track. The vinyl should sound great too. So far I'm impressed with the Deviations 4LP and the Prick EP.

I can't seem to find any information on the 4LP set and EP you mention above...can you briefly describe them? Thanks!

  9. Big fan of the song and looking forward to the EP.

It is a little annoying that all 3 EPs might be released on 1 sided vinyl and $20 each. Sees like a money grab.

great song, worst production I have ever heard... dynamic range is 3-4 at best....

Audition says the average is around 5.5dB. The DR meter will measure the loudest 20 seconds, it shows DR2 but if you measure just the first 50 seconds of the song it shows DR7.

I imagine the new one will fare a little better but it's only available lossy at the moment.

Trent says once the third EP in the trilogy is released in 6 months or so, the plan is to create an album of the songs with all different versions/production/remix/whatever.

    You are being redirected...

And of course as mentioned in the thread about the vinyl reissue series and the previous EP, another track dropped which sounds a little like something that could have been on either The Downward Spiral or The Fragile, great track in my book.

The new EP was released early for those who pre-ordered, I just got an email to download the 24bit wav of the full EP. Listening now. :)

Is the dynamic range any better on the 24bit download?

That episode was one of the most astonishing, incredible, terrifying hours of television I've ever seen.

Sadly no, DR of 2 to 4 and that's it. Though that was to be expected given the previous EP, the 24bit version there was bricked as well.

  18. I'm a little annoyed that the Add Violence LP isn't available for pre-order so that I can get the tracks. I don't care about the Physical Component at all. I love what I've heard so far (Less Than and This Isn't the Place).

First track is really good , more commercial uptempo NIN, in same league as The Hand That Feeds from "With Teeth".
The next 2 tracks drop the tempo, also good. Track 4 tempo is back up agin, like something from "The Downward Spiral".
Track 5 is a worthy closer @ almost 12 minutes, a bit slower one.
With the quality of the material on this EP it's a shame it's not a full album, really like it!

Yeah, but the last 6+ minutes is mostly just static.

I like some of the song ideas. They sound like the type of music that could sound really good and warm and dynamic. Not sure why Trent insists on crushing everything.

Mostly static? D'oh! Was looking forward to getting around to that one this weekend.
