I’ve been revisiting my love for New Order recently and feel compelled to compile my definitive top 10...eager to hear your affirmation/disgust on my choices!

    10. Lonesome Tonight

A beautifully sloppy , throwaway performance becomes transcendent when those heartbreaking when those heavenly synths swell for the final two minutes.

    9. Regret

Arguably their last truly great song. A perfect slice of sophisticated melancholic pop.

    8. Leave me alone

Their most affecting ‘guitar band’ number - resigned yet defiant.

    7. Vanishing Point

Weary comedown eurodisco with the most incisive lyrics of Sumner’s career.

    6. Age of Consent

All 4 members get to show off here in one of the most beautifully sloppy pop songs I’ve ever heard...that bass line..that synth line. Amazing.

    5. Bizarre Love Triangle
    ( Shep Pettibone 12 inch mix )

I defy anyone not to dance like a loved up loon to all 6 min and 42 secs of this !

    4. Blue Monday

    3. Temptation
    ( 1982 12 inch version )

The sound of a band forging their own identity in a drunken, messy haze..and stumbling upon genius.

    2. Your Silent Face

The sound of God’s stereo drifting through the clouds for six minutes

    1. Perfect Kiss
    ( 12 inch version )

The album / 7 inch version would struggle to make the top 10 , but the full version is the giddy genius of a band at the absolute peak of its powers....Their Masterpiece.

My word, my top 10 would change on a daily basis I reckon  but I'll have a go.

Not in any order mind you...

    Your Silent Face
My favourite NO tune, one of the greatest songs ever written.

    All Day Long
An utterly glorious song. Love it.

    All The Way
From the sublime Technique, hard to choose a favourite from that album.

    Bizarre Love Triangle
It just has be in my top 10 hasn't it?

    Crystal
I'm aware that Get Ready is not in most folks lists, but I like it. This is one of New Order's finest latter day moments.

    Vanishing Point
Back to Technique. Bizarre that this wasn't a single.

    Regret
What a return this was. One of their finest singles.

    Age Of Consent
If push came to shove, Power,Corruption & Lies would be my best NO album. This kicks off the record perfectly.

    Sunrise
Probably the most unlike NO track in my list. an absolute beast of a tune, barely pausing for breath.

    Plastic
I have to include one track from their most recent album. I was so pleasantly surprised at how good Music Complete was, this one in particular blew the roof off of the Alexandra Palace last November.

He did a nice job on it, retains Hook's bass line and Shep's isolated vocoder vocal :)
    There's a full 12 and 7 mix of this.

7 can be found on the 'Waiting' (7 inch remixes) promo cd, (took me years to find that puppy) and the Waiting 7 inch single (V3) . 12 Inch is on a another promo cd- (I have no hopes in ever finding that one)
But it can be found as well on the 'New State' 12 inch.
Sucks they never made these commercially available as DL's

    Excellent idea for a thread.

I completely adore all of your choices except for the Bizarre Love Triangle remix - though I really like the original / Brotherhood album version. :)

The dullness of this list bothers me a little, but their hits are just so good, I had no room for “deep cuts”.

    5. Regret
    6. Love Vigilantes

I tried to rank these, but it was hard enough to get it down to ten songs. In chronological order:

    Ceremony (12" version)
    Procession
    The Village
    Your Silent Face
    Sooner Than You Think
    Lonesome Tonight
As It Is When It Was
    All Day Long
    Run
    Regret

Some of all my all-time favourite songs. :agree: :agree: :agree: :agree: :agree:

Back in the 80s, each New Order release was a major event.

Brian Barker "No matter where you go, there you are"

Well, at least this very moment: And I tried to pick more than just hits but dang it, even Substance got 12 songs...

No real order, and if you ask me again tomorrow or even after lunch today I might have a near totally different selection

    1. True Faith : The song that introduced me to the band.
    2. Touched By The Hand Of God 12" : Spent the better part of 2 years trying to even hear this song. Found out about it, but couldn't find it on anything at the time (living in a
small town in the time before the internet had tons of disadvantages).
    3. The Perfect Kiss 12"
    4. Regret
    5. As It Was When It Was
    6. Behind Closed Doors
    7. Turn My Way
    8. Ceremony
    9. The Him
    10. Here To Stay
