@IR Shane - Someone's GOT to reissue Irma Thomas - Wish Someone Would Care. Never reissued in the states, originals are crazy expensive. Her album "Take A Look" a couple years later needs some attention as well.
I'd be all over that if it were on SACD. I LOVE Irma!!! Both of her Imperial albums (the other being Take A Look) are great.
Actually I'm sure a vinyl re-issue would (continually) sell very well in New Orleans and the U.S. Gulf Coast region where Irma still regularly performs and is revered as a legend. Look Shane, hundreds of copies .
It was originally released on vinyl (A&M, 1988) and again in 2016 (Bar/None). I've only heard the CD though.
Most of Bill Frisell's stuff has only appeared (in physical format) on CD. I'd especially love to see a well mastered/pressed "Bill Frisell With Dave Holland And Elvin Jones" LP. Joe Henry is another artist who has several great albums that have never appeared on LP. "Trampoline", "Fuse", "Scar", "Tiny Voices", "Civilians" and "Blood From Stars" would all be great on vinyl.
I just picked up "Field Day", and the usual superlatives apply with this Intervention release as well. Excellent pressing, improved sonics vis-a-vis the original album on vinyl, and the nice inclusion of the UK-only "U.S. Remix EP"! The remixes are a good way to hear another idea of the album's mix, and I can see how some posters prefer it over the album version.
I have to diagree. I have an Imperial re-issue in stereo and think it sounds great. To each their own, though. Maybe they could do both on one SACD ? The stereo mix has been released on CD but it's OOP.
I would also buy it. But it's one of those mixes where the vocals are hard panned to one channel and the music is hard panned to the other.
