That's the interesting part- you order what they have. I don't have the control over every aspect that I have over the album jackets.
I'd be interested to find out if there are grades I can order. Cost is not an issue. I always go for quality. Honestly, this is one of the reasons I was reticent to do SACDs and still am not crazy about it. I don't have control over the art and packaging. I order it, but it kinda is what it is.
I'm not sure if it's been posted in this thread or not but I just purchased Big Audio Dynamite (one of my all timers) and Erasure from the IR site for 17.99 each. I think Stealers Wheel was also marked to that price? Anyway, go grab em.
I think I had a few of their albums on my “wishlist”, but, @IR Shane, any love for the band Extreme? I’ve loved their third album for years and recently rediscovered it again only to find my love has increased for it. I think there was a vinyl release a few years back but not sure of how well it was done. FWIW the album is a mixture of digital and analog, so I suspect the final product may be a digital file - but I would totally buy it if y’all could do it and cut it right! Their fourth album “Waiting for the Punchline” was an analog affair... could be an interesting listen too. The sound is already pretty decent on the CD and digital version. Or, maybe their stuff isn’t even accessible for reissue... just curious!
Fact first, then my opinion. DVD players were virtually ubiquitous and easy to use to play multichannel music-only discs. It was the best chance multichannel ever had or will have to take hold. People didn't want it. They liked concert videos. For a while. And it's my opinion that they like that because video distracts from how unnatural surround sound is for music. This is difficult because the few surround enthusiasts there are happen to be very vocal. But the best mixes to me were the ones so subtle that any improvement over stereo is marginal at best.
Ferguslie Park is also on close out for $17.99. You cannot find a better album, with a better jacket, at any price.
Sounds good - the level of musicianship found on (especially) Extreme III is something you just don't see now... Don't wanna sound like an old man but dang they just don't make bands like that anymore. (Or rarely these days...)
I'm all over Rockerbox, using the original Casino Records album cover though. But I'm sure we're dreaming
Despite not being crazy about it, I (and I'm sure many others) are appreciative of your continued efforts to produce SACDs of the titles you put out. Many of us aren't vinyl guys and welcome the opportunity to hear these unique (and high quality) masterings .
Most people like at least some of the Japanese SACD flat transfers. "Zenyatta Mondatta" has been called "the best available version of this title on a digital medium" and the most recent transfer of "Synchronicity" sounds excellent to these ears, too. Many find "Regatta De Blanc" too trebly (I like it). Outlandos...I'm not sure why the Japanese didn't tackle this title for a new transfer beyond the 2003 version.
I’ve always liked the Super Jewel boxes, but am ok with the regular ones. But please not the mini-LP sleeves like MFSL.
Yep! I’ve looked through it - just figured it was worth mentioning here too. I do not have a copy of the MOV, any good? (I have had good luck with their releases over the years.)
